Scholarships to Study Abroad in Belgium

ARES Scholarships and Grants

The ARES Master's Scholarships and Internship Grants give international students the opportunity to pursue a one-year Master's degree or an internship within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium. Each year, ARES awards an average of 130 scholarships and 70 grants.

ELIGIBILITY: These awards are open to citizens of Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Indonesia, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Guinea (Conakry), Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. Applicants must have a good knowledge of written and spoken French. Further eligibility varies depending on the program.

AWARD: Scholarships awarded for: international travel costs, living allowance, indirect mission costs, registration fees, and/or insurance costs.

Erasmus+ Programs

Erasmus+ is the EU education and training program which enables students to study abroad. Through Erasmus+, university students have a chance to go to other European universities to study, thus contributing to their qualifications, experience, and understanding of different environments and cultures.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students who are at least in their second year of higher education. Students home institution and the exchange institution must have an inter-institutional agreement for students to benefit from Erasmus+.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded an Erasmus+ grant to go towards travel and subsistence costs. Awards will vary according to differences in living costs between the home country and the destination country.

Fulbright Scholarships- Belgium

As part of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, Fulbright awards scholarships to Belgian and Luxembourgish citizens to study or conduct research in any academic field at an accredited U.S. institution for a period between four months and one academic year (9 months).

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to Belgian and Luxembourgish citizens, to study, conduct research or lecture at an accredited U.S. institution for a period between three months and one academic year (9 months). Further eligibility varies depending on the scholarship.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded round trip international airfare, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and assistance in the visa application process.

VLIR-OUS Master Scholarships

VLIR-OUS awards scholarships to students and professionals from Africa, Asia or Latin America to study in Flanders, as well as travel grants to Flemish/European students to do fieldwork/internships in Africa, Asia or Latin America.

ELIGIBILITY: ICP Connect study programs are accredited international study programs. We award scholarships to applicants from 29 eligible countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America to attend one of the 15 master's programs taught in English at one or more Flemish universities. VLIR-UOS provides an annual intake of 10 new first-year scholarships for each ICP.

AWARD: VLIR-UOUS scholarships cover tuition fees, travel, insurance and living expenses( board and lodging). We only offer scholarships for the full duration of the Master's program (12/24). It is not possible to apply for a partial scholarship or an extension.

Vrije Universiteit Brussel Scholarships

The Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB) participates in several scholarship programs which offer grants at different levels of study, from Bachelor to Academic staff, and in various regions, for long and short stays. Liège Université Financial Aid

Liège Université wants all students to be able to complete their studies in the best possible conditions. Therefore, ULiège offers a wide range of social and financial assistance to their hardworking and talented students.

KU Leuven International Scholarships

University of Antwerp Scholarships

Ulysse Incentive Grant for Mobility in Scientific Research

The objective of the MISU funding is to encourage highly-qualified Belgian and foreign researchers who have a scientific research activity and are paid abroad to come and pursue their career in a WBF university.

ELIGIBILITY: The promoter-applicant to a MISU must be an active researcher with an excellent career track record during the past ten years, demonstrating significant research results. They must have the required skills for leading a research team and enjoy an international scientific recognition.

AWARD: The MISU is granted for a maximum duration of three years (2 years + possible extension of 1 year) and makes it possible to request maximum average annual funding of € 210,000.

The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) Fellowships

The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) encourages applications for fellowships for advanced study or research during the academic year 2024-2025, at a Belgian university or institution of higher learning.

ELIGIBILITY: Either at the time of application be registered in a Ph.D. or equivalent degree program in the United States, or while holding the BAEF fellowship register in a graduate program (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Belgium, or hold a Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent degree. Post-doctoral applicants should by July 1, 2024 have no more than 2 years since obtaining their Ph.D. degree.

AWARD: $ 29,000 for Master’s or Ph.D. students $ 33,000 for Post-doctoral Fellows.

Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarship

The Flemish Ministry of Education and Training awards Master Mind Scholarships for master's programmes in Flanders and Brussels to outstanding students from around the world.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to international students (except for Russians) applying for a Master's program at a Flemish higher education institution. Applicants should have a strong academic record and English proficiency. 

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a maximum scholarship of €9 600 per academic year.

Erasmus+ Programs

Erasmus+ is the EU education and training program which enables students to study abroad. Through Erasmus+, university students have a chance to go to other European universities to study, thus contributing to their qualifications, experience, and understanding of different environments and cultures.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students who are at least in their second year of higher education. Students home institution and the exchange institution must have an inter-institutional agreement for students to benefit from Erasmus+.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded an Erasmus+ grant to go towards travel and subsistence costs. Awards will vary according to differences in living costs between the home country and the destination country.

Fulbright Scholarships- Croatia

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English teaching assistant programs. During their grants, Fulbrighters will meet, work, live with and learn from the people of the host country, in order to promote mutual understanding through direct engagement in the community.

ELIGIBILITY: Dual citizens of this country are eligible. Residency in host country NOT permitted in year prior to grant. Indicate how many months is considered residency: 3 Months.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded round trip international airfare, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and assistance in the visa application process.

Boren Scholarships

The Boren Awards fund the intensive study of language and culture abroad by U.S. undergraduate or graduate students. All eligible applicants have the option to either apply for a Regional Flagship Language Initiative or select/design their own study program.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to U.S. citizens planning an overseas program in one of the selected countries. (Croatia is listed). Further eligibility varies depending on undergraduate Boren Scholars and graduate Boren Fellows.

AWARD: Recipient awards range from $8,000 to $25,000 USD depending on the program and the duration.

CEEPUS Grants

CEEPUS is the short form for Central European Exchange Program for University Studies and is a multilateral University exchange program in the extended Danube region based on an international Agreement. There are 15 member states who joined the current CEEPUS III agreement, each member state has a National CEEPUS Office. See list of National CEEPUS Offices.

ELIGIBILITY: All students enrolled at a CEEPUS university who fully completed two semesters and all faculty members of a CEEPUS university are eligible to apply. You need to be a citizen of a CEEPUS member State to participate in the program. If you have a different citizenship but are enrolled at a CEEPUS university, you might also be eligible. In that case, please ask your National CEEPUS Office for restrictions and further information.

AWARD: The individual monthly grant rate depends on your host country and may vary. See the National CEEPUS Office contact information on our website for current rates. In some CEEPUS countries scholars will get extra allowance or outgoing reimbursement for their stays. Ask the National CEEPUS Office of your guest and of your home country.

Bilateral Programs

The Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia and the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes offer Bilateral Scholarships for study or research to foreign students and teachers of higher education institutions as well as research fellows who intend to gain further professional experience in Croatian institutions of higher education or research.

Zagreb School of Economics and Management Scholarships

The chosen recipients will collaborate with ACAP and ZSEM to champion Croatian-American activities and causes. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact while furthering your education.

ELIGIBILITY: Complete all courses and achieve a minimum GPA of 4.00. Participate or plan to participate in the international exchange program at ZSEM (preference given to those who have been on exchange in the United States of America). Craft a compelling motivational letter answering the question: “What makes me the right candidate for the ACAP scholarship?” Additional preference is given to candidates with multiple family members (e.g., three brothers and sisters).

Scholarships to Study Abroad in Cyprus

Cyprus Science University Scholarships

Cyprus Science University offers various scholarships to help students with the costs of studying. In addition, all international undergraduate students are entitled to get up to a 60% tuition fee waiver, and all international graduate students are entitled to get up to a 50% tuition fee waiver at CSU.

Scholarships to Study Abroad in Czechia

University of Pardubice Scholarships

The University of Pardubice is proud to offer various scholarships to their academically talented incoming students, as well as students who show impressive performance during their time at UP.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to currently enrolled and incoming students. Further eligibility varies depending on the scholarship.

AWARD: Recipient award is based on the achieved study results and it is a one-time payment of 3,000 CZK (to a monthly allowance of 1,000 CZK) and extra 600 CZK for accommodation / month.

CEEPUS Grants

The Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS) is an academic exchange program for teachers and students in the extended Danube region. There are currently 15+ members states who participate in the CEEPUS III agreement. 

ELIGIBILITY: All students enrolled at a CEEPUS university who fully completed two semesters and all faculty members of a CEEPUS university are eligible to apply. You need to be a citizen of a CEEPUS member State to participate in the program. If you have a different citizenship but are enrolled at a CEEPUS university, you might also be eligible.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded grants to help cover the costs of living, housing, and basic medical insurance. Award money will vary depending on the cost difference between the home country and the exchange country.

University of West Bohemia INTERSTUD Scholarship

The main aim of the INTERSTUD project is to provide talented foreign students with quality education through the means of award money. The project focuses primarily on students from socioeconomically disadvantaged environments, and students with special financial needs. 

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to applicants from all over the world who intend to apply for a full time study program taught in the Czech Language. Undergraduate applicants must have completed secondary education, and graduate applicants must have completed an undergraduate program. Applicants must have excellent grades and documentation of Czech language skills at a minimum B1 level.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded 8,000 CZK per month.

University of New York in Prague Scholarships

The University of New York in Prague wants as many students as possible to have the opportunity to study in Europe (in English). For this reason, they offer a number of scholarships, tuition fee reductions, and financial incentives for students enrolled in bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, MBA and PhD programs at UNYP.

Brno University of Technology Scholarships

Danish Government Scholarships

Danish government provides limited number of scholarships to highly qualified full-degree students from non-EU/EEA countries and Switzerland at Danish Universities to support their educations and celebrate their success.

The Danish State Educational Support (SU)

The Danish State Educational Support (SU) is generally only awarded to Danish residents to support their higher education and provide student loans for those who need. Foreign citizens must fulfil specific conditions (according to Danish rules or the rules of EU law) in order to be granted equal status with Danish citizens and receive state educational grant.

ELIGIBILITY: For people over 18 following a youth education program i.e. a general upper secondary, vocational upper secondary or vocational education and training program. or Student enrolled in a full-degree programme is entitled to a number of monthly grants if they fulfil the general conditions

AWARD: The amount awarded depends on the scholarship and candidate.

Boren Scholarships

The Boren Awards fund the intensive study of language and culture abroad by U.S. undergraduate or graduate students. All eligible applicants have the option to either apply for a Regional Flagship Language Initiative or select/design their own study program.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students who qualify for a Master’s program at UH and are citizens outside of the EU/EEA. Students must meet the requirements for obtaining a visa and have a record of excellent academic performance.

AWARD: Each degree programme may award scholarships covering either 50% or 100 % of the tuition fee. Fully Funded Grant recipients will be awarded 100% tuition fee waivers and €5,000 EUR relocation grant.

Nokia Foundation Scholarship

The Nokia Scholarship is intended to encourage efficient, fast-progressing doctoral studies and research. Nokia Scholarships are granted to individuals pursuing a doctoral degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) or in clearly related supporting scientific disciplines. This scholarship can be granted to an international applicant for doctoral studies at a Finnish university, or to a Finnish applicant for doctoral studies abroad.

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant must receive a commitment statement from his/her principal supervisor, who must be a professor, docent, or senior scientist at the university at which the student is pursuing their degree. The statement must be submitted to the application database by the supervisor. The scholarship can be granted only once to the same individual.

Aalto University provides a number of international scholarships to students each year. University of Jyväskylä Scholarships

The University of Jyväskylä offers merit scholarships to cover tuition fee costs for its most successful international Master’s degree students. JYU does not offer additional university level scholarships, however, faculties may offer specific field-based scholarships for their students.

EDUFI Fellowship 

The Finnish government offers scholarships to international doctoral students who study doctoral level studies and research at Finnish universities or public research universities. The EDUFI fellowship is a government scholarship program open to young researchers from all academic fields. The scholarship does not apply to master’s level studies or post doctoral studies.

ELIGIBILITY: This fellowship is open to doctoral students, regardless of nationality and field of study.

AWARD: The grant covers the living costs of the fellow in Finland, who will be awarded a monthly allowance of €1,900 EUR. However, separate accommodation costs, travel, visa, residence permit or insurance costs are not covered by this fellowship.

Eiffel Scholarship Program of Excellence

The Eiffel Scholarship Program of Excellence was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enroll in their Masters and PhD programs.  

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to graduate applicants up to 25 years old from developing countries, and PhD applicants up to 30 years old from developing and industrialized countries. 

AWARD: The monthly allowance for graduate recipients is €1,181 EUR and for PhD recipients is €1,700 EUR. Several services are added to the monthly stipend such as International transportation, national transportation, insurance, housing searches, cultural activities, etc.

ENS International Selection

The Ecole normale supérieure aims to diversify their student body by incorporating students from all over the world and from all disciplines. The competitive examination of the International Selection is intended for young graduate students in Arts & Humanities as well as the Sciences.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students under the age of 26 when they apply. Students must not have lived in France more than 10 months during the academic year of the selection (September 1st – August 31st) nor the previous year. The INSEAD Fellowship

At INSEAD, all candidates admitted to the PhD program are automatically provided with the INSEAD Fellowship for five years of full-time studies. Thus, you will not need to seek loans to pay for tuition fees in France. In addition, at INSEAD, you are also granted a generous stipend to cover your living expenses. These benefits are renewed annually contingent upon satisfactory progress in the program and are given to all candidates regardless of background, nationality or need.

International Masters Scholarship Program

The Université Paris-Saclay aims to make their Masters Programs more easily accessible to international students, especially those wishing to develop an academic project through research. Therefore, they offer their International Masters Scholarship Program to fund academically talented students from around the world. 

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students admitted to a Université Paris-Saclay Master’s program delivered by one of the following institutions: AgroParisTech, CentraleSupelec, ENS Paris-Saclay, INSTN-CEA, IOGS, UEVE, UPSaclay, orUVSQ. Students must be newly arrived international students under the age of 30.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded €10,000 EUR per year and a maximum of €1,000 EUR grant to help cover travel and visa expenses depending on the candidate’s country of origin.

The Émile Boutmy Scholarship

Sciences Po created the Émile Boutmy scholarship, named after the founder of Sciences Po, in order to welcome the very best international students from outside the European Union. The Émile Boutmy Scholarship is awarded to top students whose profiles match the admissions priorities of Sciences Po and individual course requirements.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to first time applicants who reside outside of the EU, and have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master's program at Sciences Po.

AWARD: Undergraduate recipients will be awarded a grant between €3,900 and €14,210 EUR per year based on academic merit. Graduate recipients will be awarded a grant of €13,100 (amount granted in 2023, the 2024 amount is yet to be confirmed) per year, for each year, which covers part of the tuition fees for the two years of the Master's degree program.

Chateaubriand Fellowship Program

The Chateaubriand Fellowship is a grant offered by the Embassy of France in the United States. This fellowship supports outstanding PhD students from American universities who wish to conduct research in France for a period ranging from 4 to 9 months. This program is divided into two subgroups: STEM and HSS.

ELIGIBILITY: Eligibility varies depending on the subgroup.

Alexandre Yersin Excellence Scholarship

Since 2000, the French Consulate has supported over 120 students from Hong Kong and Macau to pursue a Master’s degree in France. The Alexandre Yersin Excellence Scholarship goes hand in hand with promoting the excellence, diversity, and quality of French higher education, and encourages deeper cooperation between France and Hong Kong as well as France and Macao. 

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to permanent residents of Hong Kong or Macau, who plan on pursuing a Masters degree or equivalent studies in France. Applicants can not have duel citizenship which includes French nationality. 

AWARD: The scholarship covers one year of Master 1 or Master 2 studies (up to 2 years). Benefits include a 860€ monthly living allowance, visa and registration fee exemption, insurance, and subsidized accommodation by Campus France.

Lebesgue Masters Scholarship

The Henri Lebesgue Centre provides in-depth training in fundamental and applied mathematics. They offer a wide range of courses with a rich set of complements, covering a broad spectrum of todays mathematics. The Henri Lebesgue Center, together with Ambition Lebesgue Loire and the Fondation de Rennes 1, grants excellence scholarships each year for the fundamental mathematics pathways.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students enrolled in their second year of the Fundamental Mathematics Masters in Rennes-Brest, or in the Fundamental and Applied Mathematics Masters in Nantes-Angers-Vannes. Sophie Germain Masters Scholarships

The Mathematics Foundation Jacques Hadamard offers scholarships for a period of one or two years for French and foreign students. The Sophie Germain Scholarships are intended for students who want to enroll in one of the programs of this master.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to all applicants, regardless of geographic origin.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded €11,000 net per year. €500 is added to the scholarship for all the laureates. Foreign students also receive a fixed compensation of a maximum of €2000 per year to cover travel expenses and visa fees depending on their country of origin.

Université Grenoble Alpes Excellence Scholarship

The "Initiative of Excellence" at Université Grenoble Alpes offers a Masters Scholarship program each year. This scholarship is intended for students who wish to enroll in a Masters program offered by the Université Grenoble Alpes. UGA also lists a number of external scholarships on their website for students to consider. 

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to foreign students outside of the EU/EEA  applying for their first or second year of a Masters degree program.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded €8,000 EUR for an academic year. If one of the two semesters is dedicated to a funded internship, the amount of the scholarship is reduced to €5,000 EUR.

The University of Lille has put in place a mobility grant scheme known as MOB-LIL-EX. The aim of this scheme is to support projects that achieve a level of excellence through the international mobility of students and young researchers from the University of Lille and partner universities.

WEAR & I Fashion Pioneer Scholarship

WEAR & I is passionate about fashion and would like to help students pay part of their tuition fees or provide financial support in fashion. They aim to find candidates who have their own unique insights into fashion and outfits.  

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to international students with a qualified school admission certificate from institutions in the U.S., Canada, UK, Italy, France, or Australia.

Charpak Scholarship for Indian students

The Charpak scholarship program provides funding for Bachelor's and Master's level students. It supports studies in France, study exchange semesters, and research projects for Indian students enrolled in Indian institutions.

KAAD Scholarships

The Catholic Academic Exchange Service (KAAD) is the scholarship institution of the German Catholic Church for post-graduate students and scientists from developing countries. KAAD supports scholars in form of scholarships and educational programs, giving students the opportunity to come to Germany.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students from developing or emerging countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America who still currently reside there. Applicants must have a university degree and professional experience from their home country, and wish to acquire a Master’s degree or a PhD at a German university, or conduct a post-doctoral research project at a German university. Applicants must be Catholic Christian (or belong to a Christian denomination). Candidates from other religions can apply if they are proposed by Catholic partners, and can prove their commitment to interreligious dialogue. The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung gives young talents the security they need to study by offering financial support that they do not have to repay. Georg Forster Research Award

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation presents up to six Georg Forster Research Awards each year to internationally outstanding researchers from developing and transition countries in recognition of their academic excellence. 

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to nominated students whose academic achievements are internationally recognized and proven by corresponding successes in research. Nominees may not previously have received an award from the Humboldt Foundation for her/his academic work. Nominees must be citizens of a developing or transition country (excluding PR China and India, see the list of countries here). Nominees must have lived and worked in one of these countries for at least five years at the time of nomination.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded €60,000 EUR. Award winners are also invited to conduct a research project of their choice at a research institution in Germany, in cooperation with specialist colleagues there. The award enables a total stay between six months and a full year, which can be split into multiple stays. If required, they will provide further funding of up to €25,000 EUR to finance academic collaboration.

Frankfurt School of Finance and Management Doctoral Scholarships

Frankfurt School of Finance and Management offers generously funded scholarships for doctoral students in order to attract and support the brightest minds in academia. Awarded students are expected to devote 100% of their working time to their Doctoral studies at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management for up to five years.

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung offers their annual KAS scholarship program to international students. This program consists of financial assistance, personal guidance, a wide seminar program, and access to the worldwide KAS-network. Heinrich Böll Scholarships

HAW Hamburg Excellence Scholarships

HAW Hamburg awards scholarships to high-performing international Bachelor's students as of the third subject semester and to international Master's students as of the second subject semester. The funding for the scholarships is provided by the City of Hamburg.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to international student at HAW Hamburg who have obtained higher education entrance qualifications abroad, or have successfully completed preparatory studies at a German Studienkolleg. Leibniz Universität Hannover Financial Aid

The International Office at Leibniz Universität Hannover understands that studying abroad can be financially draining for many students. Therefore, they award emergency grants ("Notfall-Beihilfen") and degree completion grants (“Studienabschlussbeihilfen”) to international students from non-EU countries who are currently enrolled at LUH.

DRD Scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans

DRD Scholarships are merit-based scholarships for students from developing countries in Sub-Saharan Africa pursuing a master’s degree or PhD.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to applicants from Sub-Saharan African countries with an excellent academic record. Scholarships are also available for full-time students of the MA in Development Studies, Master in Public Administration and the MA in Development Management. International University of Applied Sciences online-scholarship initiative

Every month IU International University of Applied Sciences awards a total of four scholarships to selected individuals who are not yet enrolled. These scholarships are primarily for people with disabilities, women in tech, single parents or new beginners who want to follow their very own educational path.

SBW Berlin Scholarship

The SBW Berlin Scholarship supports young people from abroad who have a financially disadvantaged family background and use the skills they acquire during their studies in Germany to boost long-term non-profit projects, preferably in their home countries.

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to non-Germans, between 18 and 30 years old, whose home countries appear to have a particular need for development assistance. They must also be in their early university education (up to the third semester) at a recognized university, either in Germany or abroad, or applying for a Master's degree shortly before or after completing a Bachelor's degree. Additionally, a minimum German grade point average of 2.0 is required. 

AWARD: The scholarship covers essential living expenses for recipients, providing a furnished room in shared student flats in Berlin, a monthly cost-of-living allowance of 480 Euros, tuition fees, and possibly a travel contribution for the journey to and from Berlin.

International Climate Protection Fellowship

The International Climate Protection Fellowship invites prospective leaders and postdocs from non-European developing or transition countries to conduct a 12–24-month project in Germany on climate change, resource conservation, or sustainability, offering financial support, language courses, and networking opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY: The fellowship is open to citizens of non-European developing/transition countries, with leadership experience and proficiency in English and/or German. Further eligibility criteria vary by program.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded monthly fellowships of €2,170–€2,670, individual support, and additional funds for family, travel, health insurance, language courses.

GyanDhan Scholarship for Indian students

GyanDhan Scholarship supports Indian students wishing to pursue a 2-year postgraduate course in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand or Germany by offering a merit-based, one-time award.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to Indian residents with an undergrad degree from an Indian institute.

AWARD: The recipient will be awarded an INR 1 Lakh (approximately equal to 1,200 USD) one-time scholarship for postgraduate studies.

Scholarships to Study Abroad in Hungary

Hungarian Government Scholarships - Stipendium Hungaricum

The Hungarian Government established the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme to promote the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education and to attract top international students from all around the world who can establish personal and professional links to Hungary while enjoying high-quality education in the heart of Europe.

When graduates return to their home countries with marketable skills and knowledge, they can build social, political and economic relationships, thus contributing to extending and deepening cooperation between Hungary and their home countries.

ELIGIBILITY: The Stipendium Hungaricum is based on bilateral education agreements between Hungary and the governments of the sending countries. It is available on five continents in over 90 countries. Applicants are offered around 800 full degree programs, covering all higher education fields at all degree levels, including part-time and doctoral programs.

AWARD: Recipients are awarded tuition-free education, a monthly stipend, contribution to accommodation, and medical insurance. Award contributions and amounts depend on the level of the program and living accommodation choice.

CEEPUS Grants

The Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS) is an academic exchange program for teachers and students in the extended Danube region. There are currently 15+ members states who participate in the CEEPUS III agreement. 

ELIGIBILITY: All students enrolled at a CEEPUS university who fully completed two semesters are eligible to apply. You need to be a citizen of a CEEPUS member State to participate in the program. If you have a different citizenship but are enrolled at a CEEPUS university, you might also be eligible. 

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded grants to help cover the costs of living, housing, and basic medical insurance. Award money will vary depending on the cost difference between the home country and the exchange country.

Boren Scholarships

The Boren Awards fund the intensive study of language and culture abroad by U.S. undergraduate or graduate students. All eligible applicants have the option to either apply for a Regional Flagship Language Initiative or select/design their own study program.

Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship

The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of Europe, and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution to develop their personal, professional and cultural relations to Hungary.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to members of a Hungarian diaspora living in any country outside of the European Union, the Republic of Serbia, or the Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine. Applicants must acquire a recommendation from their local diaspora organization or Hungarian representation. Regarding the issuance of the recommendation, it is advised to contact the diaspora organizations and delegations 1 or 2 months prior to submitting the application.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded 100% tuition fee waivers, medical insurance, a monthly stipend, and accommodation (upon request).

Scholarship Program for Christian Young People

The core mission of the Scholarship Program for Young Christian People is to provide opportunities to Christian youth living in crisis regions of the world, as well as young Christians being threatened in their countries because of their faith, to pursue higher education at a Hungarian host institution.

Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program

Vesuvio International School Scholarships

Vesuvio International School annually offers scholarships to help cover the cost of study for their Bachelor and Master degree students. These scholarships come in the form of financial support, recognition of academic merits, and support for foreign students.

Latvian State Scholarships

The Latvian Government offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers, and teaching staff to study at Latvian higher education institutions. These scholarships are given out in accordance to bilateral agreements between Latvia and select countries.

AFR PhD Grants

AFR is one of the FNR’s longest-running funding programs, providing generous funding for the training of doctoral candidates. Grants are awarded in the form of an employment contract with the host institution, rather than in the form of a scholarship.

Universiteit Radboud Scholarship Program

Each year, Universiteit Radboud offers their Radboud Scholarship Program. This program provides talented, highly motivated, non-EU/EEA students with outstanding study results the opportunity to win a scholarship for a complete English-taught Master’s degree program.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to non-EU/EEA students who possess a Bachelors degree from outside of the Netherlands, have no degrees achieved in the Netherlands, nor any previous education in the Netherlands (exchange programs excluded). Applicants must meet the English language proficiency requirement for the Master's program of their choice, and be enrolled at Uni Radboud as a full-time student for the academic year and Master's degree program for which the scholarship will be awarded.

AWARD: A Radboud Scholarship will reduce the student's tuition fee to €2.530,-. For example: a grant holder in 2024/2025 will pay a tuition fee of only €2.530,- instead of €17,000. Södertörn University created their tuition fee waiver scholarship to award academic excellence coming to Sweden from countries outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland. The tuition fee waiver is intended for Master's program studies at Södertörn University.

The Örebro University Scholarship programme is aimed at top academic students from countries outside the European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland, who are required to pay tuition fees for studies starting after June 2011.

Halmstad University Scholarships

Each year Halmstad University offers a number of scholarships to students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland with the requirement to pay tuition fee. These scholarships may be granted to students within any field of study applying to our Master’s programmes at Halmstad University.

Rotary Peace Fellowships

The Rotary Peace Fellowship support experienced leaders in peace and development, offering up to 50 fellowships for master's degrees annually.

ELIGIBILITY: This fellowship is open to master's degree candidates proficient in English, holding a bachelor's degree, demonstrating commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace through achievements and service, showing leadership potential, and possessing at least three years of relevant full-time experience in peace or development work.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars and Artists

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. There are two programs currently offered: Research Scholarships and Art Scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY: Research scholarships are open to post-graduate researchers in any discipline who hold a Master’s degree and are planning to pursue research or further studies at a doctoral or post-doctoral level in Switzerland. Only candidates nominated by an academic supervisor at one of these higher education institutions will be considered. Art scholarships are open to art students who possess a Bachelors degree and wish to pursue an initial Master’s degree in Switzerland. Erasmus+ Programs

Erasmus+ is the EU education and training program which enables students to study abroad. Through Erasmus+, university students have a chance to go to other European universities to study, thus contributing to their qualifications, experience, and understanding of different environments and cultures.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to students who are at least in their second year of higher education. Students home institution and the exchange institution must have an inter-institutional agreement for students to benefit from Erasmus+.

The Université de Lausanne annually grants around 10 Masters Scholarships of Excellence exclusively to foreign students who have achieved high levels of academic success.

Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship

The Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship programme offers scholarships worth up to £10,000 - to study a full-time Master's programme in Wales. The scholarships are available to students from Vietnam, India, USA, Canada and countries of the European Union. This prestigious scheme is the first scholarship of its kind in Wales and is offered by the Global Wales Programme – a partnership between the Welsh Government, Universities Wales, The British Council and HEFCW, and is funded by Taith.

ELIGIBILITY: All universities in Wales offer the Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship, and you need to have already applied for a place to study an eligible postgraduate programme before you submit your scholarship application. You can now make up to three applications to different Welsh universities, providing you have applied for all the courses and universities that you are seeking a scholarship for.

AWARD: Recipients will receive a scholarship worth up to 10,000 GBP.

WEAR & I Fashion Pioneer Scholarship

WEAR & I is passionate about fashion and would like to help students pay part of their tuition fees or provide financial support in fashion. They aim to find candidates who have their own unique insights into fashion and outfits.  

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to international students with a qualified school admission certificate from institutions in the U.S., Canada, UK, Italy, France, or Australia.

British Council Women in STEM Scholarships

Women in STEM scholarships offer women researchers from eligible countries the chance to continue their studies in STEM with a one-year, fully funded scholarship to complete a master's degree at a UK university.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded economic support covering tuition fees, stipends, travel costs, and visa and health coverage fees.

GREAT Scholarships

GREAT Scholarships provide students from 15 countries financial support for various one-year taught postgraduate courses across 71 universities in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland..

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam who wish to pursue one-year taught postgraduate courses in the UK.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded financial support of £10,000 towards their tuition fees.

Saïd Foundation Scholarships

The Saïd Foundation provides educational scholarships for one-year master’s degree courses in the UK to empower individuals with leadership potential from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to candidates from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, or Palestine, with a UK 2:1 or higher undergraduate degree. Applicants must demonstrate relevant experience, leadership potential, and meet English language requirements for selected partner universities.

AWARD: Recipients receive fully funded scholarships covering tuition, living costs, arrival allowance, visa fees, healthcare surcharge, and one return flight. Separate arrangements exist for Oxford, Cambridge, and Chevening partner scholars.

Rotary Peace Fellowships

The Rotary Peace Fellowship support experienced leaders in peace and development, offering up to 50 fellowships for master's degrees annually.

ELIGIBILITY: This fellowship is open to master's degree candidates proficient in English, holding a bachelor's degree, demonstrating commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace through achievements and service, showing leadership potential, and possessing at least three years of relevant full-time experience in peace or development work.

AWARD: The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and internship and field-study expenses.

GyanDhan Scholarship for Indian students

GyanDhan Scholarship supports Indian students wishing to pursue a 2-year postgraduate course in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand or Germany by offering a merit-based, one-time award.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to Indian residents with an undergrad degree from an Indian institute.
