About the Foundation Course

If you do not meet the entry criteria for your chosen undergraduate course at the University of Pisa, the foundation course may offer you an alternative entry route!
What will you get?
- 288 hours of English medium classes in Humanities and/or Science subjects

Scholarships and Funding
2 Scholarships worth 1000 € and 2 tuition fee waivers to the best Foundation Course students who enroll to a Bachelor’s or to an Integrated Master’s degree at the University of Pisa.
The two benefits above mentioned are given at the end of the FC year and they are valid only for the first year of the undergraduate degree chosen.
Curriculum
Foundation Course Humanities
The Foundation Course Humanities (FCH) is made of 60 credits (CFC) and the duration is one year divided in two semesters.
Lessons are taught in English and there are 24 CFC of Italian language from the A1 to the B2 level.
Mandatory modules consist of 51 CFC and students can choose the remaining 9 CFC among several optional modules.

Foundation Course Science
The Foundation Course Science(FCS) is made of 60 credits (CFC) and the duration is one year divided in two semesters.
Lessons are taught in English and there are 24 CFC of Italian language from the A1 to the B2 level.
Mandatory modules consist of 51 CFC and students can choose the remaining 9 CFC among several optional modules.
The program includes 40 hours of study focused on the preparation of TOLC-MED TEST.Subjects covered are Logic, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The FCS prepares students interested in scientific courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Math, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy and Physics. The program’s modules are based on last year’s curricula of scientific subjects as given at Italian scientific high schools.
Students who have gaps in Math may attend a preparatory class (Math0) in September with dedicated tutors before the beginning of the regular class (Basic Mathematical Language)

Program Outcome
You will obtain your final FC qualification if you will meet the following requirements:
- Regular attendance in each class
- Achievement of all of the expected credits in the chosen study track
- Achievement of at least the B1 Italian Language level
FC Science studentscan obtain up to 5 points in in the evaluation procedure for the admission in the BA in Management for Business and Economics (MBE)at the University of Pisa. Details will be available in the nextMBE call.
Furthermore, FC students who decide to enroll to the International Program in Humanities (IPH)at the University of Pisa will have a discount of 1000 € in the tuition fees of the program.
