Introduction
Product Design
The master's programme in product development, specialisation in product design is a full-time, two-year master's programme (120 credits) which focuses on conceptualization and realization of products from conceiving the first product ideas to specifying the manufacturing of them.
Products that are studied can be anything from ships and aircraft to consumer products such as bicycles and toasters. Students are to choose between two tracks: Design or Product Lifecycle Management.
Product examples are locally produced and include forestry and gardening equipment, parts for automobiles, sheet metal and plastic parts and more. In addition to learning theories on design and engineering, practical work is done emphasizing building prototypes using 3D printing and handcrafting of prototypes in the school’s workshops.
You will be well prepared for work on industrial design projects, as a consultant or future research work.
