Introduction
The School of Fashion's AA program offers eight types of degrees: Fashion, Fashion Journalism, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Product Development, Fashion Styling, Fashion Visual Merchandising, and Textile Design. Course offerings include fashion design, menswear, costume design, textiles, knitwear, fashion journalism, merchandising, visual merchandising, styling, fashion marketing, product development, and much more.
Program Outcome
Undergraduate students will meet the following student performance criteria:
Research and Concept Development
- Select concepts appropriate for the market and customer, demonstrating an understanding of design and market research.
- Generate ideas that are related to the chosen concept as well as to one another.
Visual Presentation Skills
- Create professional and organized presentations.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrate skills in pinning, steaming, folding, and propping fashion products.
- Demonstrate basic skills in photography, composition, lighting, make-up artistry, and hair styling.
Verbal and Written Presentation Skills
- Clearly express their ideas utilizing fashion industry vocabulary.
Historical Knowledge
- Intelligently discuss major fashion movements and the work of key stylists, designers, photographers, and magazines.
Art Direction
- Design the visual aesthetic of pictures for fashion photo shoots, including clothes, accessories, backdrops, props, photographic styles, location, hair, make-up, and models.
Collaboration Skills
- Work effectively in a team.
Professional Readiness
- Produce basic materials required for an entry-level job search.

Stylist
As a fashion stylist, you will provide on-set art direction for editorial and catalog fashion shoots and support merchandising strategy with the brand and theme-based shoots

Degree Requirements
- A minimum grade of C- in all core courses, major courses, and LA 107 Writing for the Multilingual Artist or 108 Composition for the Artist
- Minimum 2.0 GPA and the following general education requirements:
- 1 Written Communication: Composition
- 1 Written Communication: Critical Thinking
- 2 Art Historical Awareness: Western Art
- 1 Employment Communications & Practices
After the above general education requirements are met, take Liberal Arts electives as needed to fulfill the Liberal Arts unit requirement.
