Learning German (Deutsch) in Germany

Although opportunities to study in English are becoming more widespread, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) only has 88 English-taught programs in its database. There are some courses which are taught in both languages, usually starting with English and progressing to German. If you wish to take learning the language into your own hands, there are many language schools and programs in Germany. The most famous of these is the Goethe Institution – a cultural association with 159 operational institutions offering courses in German, as well as about German culture.
