    The academic bachelor study program Laboratory Biomedicine at the University of Ljubljana is conducted in the Slovenian language and all candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of the Slovene language at the level of “B2” according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) with the relevant certificate, before enrolment. The program Laboratory Biomedicine is designed and accredited with the objective to train skilled professionals for jobs in medical laboratories of different specific fields within laboratory medicine, in research institutions and in laboratory medicine related fields of activities. The program provides the basics for further studies at master’s and/or specialist level, and for lifelong professional and scientific training. During the training, students acquire the following knowledge and skills: the ability to solve specific problems related to the analysis of human biological samples, the ability to master modern analytical techniques in medical laboratories with special emphasis on their technical implementation and requirements for achieving accuracy and precision. They also learn to evaluate and use the results of laboratory tests in assessment of the health status and adopt legislation and ethics related to laboratory medicine. Moreover, they are able to develop new analytical methods or applications for specific biological samples.

    The master study program Laboratory Biomedicine at the University of Ljubljana is conducted in the Slovenian language and all candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of the Slovene language at the level of “B2” according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) with the relevant certificate, before enrolment. The program Laboratory biomedicine is provided to train skilled professionals for analytical jobs in medical laboratories of different specific fields within laboratory medicine, in research institutions and in laboratory medicine related fields of activity, such as agencies, industry and national authorities. Graduates will be qualified to independently follow new findings and use them in the field of laboratory medicine, and adapt to the requirements of laboratory diagnostics. They will also gain applicative knowledge from the fields of research work and management fundamentals, administration and legislation. The program provides the basics for lifelong technical training. Graduates will be qualified to continue their studies in the doctoral program Biomedicine or in laboratory oriented specializations (e.g. medicinal biochemistry).
