Introduction
This course allows you to apply high-level academic and practical management skills to the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries arising from sports and physical activity.
You'll complete a minimum of 400 hours of clinical placement, supervised by a registered healthcare or medical professional, to help you graduate confident and ready to step into the world of work.
When you graduate, you'll be eligible for membership in the British Association of Sports Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT) and benefit from the professional industry insight they provide.
You will:
- Learn to improve the health and function of people with injury, illness and disease, and to positively contribute to improving public health
- Be taught by industry experts with a focus on practical skills and small group practical sessions
- Graduate with the skills to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries
- Experience a variety of settings on placement such as professional sports clubs, hospitals with orthopaedic consultants, GP practices, the Ministry of Defence, private sports rehabilitation and physiotherapy clinics

Curriculum
You'll study musculoskeletal injuries, therapeutic techniques and exercise rehabilitation skills, supported by a foundation in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and psychology. You'll learn to provide effective care for people with injuries, illness and disease to improve their health and function, either autonomously or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You'll learn how to help injured people get back to full sporting activity by applying cutting-edge rehabilitation techniques in a lively and supportive environment. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in real-life situations.
We currently have several exchange programmes running, including two, semester-long exchanges with universities in the USA, where you'll undertake a similar programme of study and a professional baseball internship. The exchanges are subject to availability and not available to all students.
