The curriculum covers basic and clinical sciences, ethics, and patient care to prepare students for the medical field.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue careers as medical doctors in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community health organizations. They may also specialize in areas such as surgery, pediatrics, or internal medicine, or work in research, public health, and academic roles.

Introduction

MBChB

Each student in Medicine must apply to the Registrar of the Health Professions Council of South Africa for registration as a student in Medicine, immediately after admission to the first year of study. After obtaining the degree, a student must register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an intern, and complete at least one year of training at an institution approved by the abovementioned Council for this purpose. (Students who qualify after July 2006, will have a compulsory two-year internship.) After this, he or she must register with the Council as a physician and complete one year of community service before he or she may work in private practice. The integrated outcomes-based problem-oriented program consists of theoretical blocks, special activities (SAs) and clinical rotations. During the final 18 months, referred to as the Student Intern Complex (SIC), all the program activities take place in the clinical settings.
