Introduction
BA (Hons) Product and Industrial Design
BA Product and Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins believes that design is a process-driven activity. On this course, you will identity appropriate problems and design outcomes which meet the wants and needs of people. This course will provide you with an open and supportive environment as you become a designer. We will equip you with the skills to make interventions in the world which are informed, creative, and meaningful.
BA Product and Industrial Design will encourage you to understand human behaviour before formulating creative and informed design responses. You will be invited to challenge accepted cultural and commercial norms. You will consider the impact of technology, environmental issues and cultural shifts in the development of your work. The course encourages a wide range of outcomes. This includes: consumer durables, personal accessories, packaging and branding and furniture and lighting. It may also include other outcomes classed as service or system design, or even design strategy.
On this course, you will learn the practical skills necessary to bring an object into physical being. Through the alignment of CAD software, creative software and physical computing facilities, you will investigate how to bridge the gap between physical and digital products. This range of technical experience allows us to provide an integrated design approach, preparing you for the future.
