Introduction
Electrical and Electronic Engineering – major Electronics
Will you be developing the latest, most efficient electronic vehicle to meet people's sustainable mobility needs? Will you be helping along the energy transition with your smart solutions to let systems communicate with each other? Or will your innovation lead to a revolution in health care? The Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme's Electronics major lays the foundations for modern technological innovations that will make the world a better, smarter and more beautiful place.
Electronics is one of the majors of the four-year bachelor’s programme Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The programme consists of an introductory year and a three-year main phase. The curriculum includes theoretical classes, workshops and a wide range of practical labs. Equipped with this knowledge, you will work cases for real companies, together with fellow students.

Curriculum
Year 1
You'll receive an introduction to the multifaceted, exciting and wide-ranging world of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme together with all other first-year Electrical and Electronic Engineering students. You'll be taking your first steps in designing and developing electrical and electronic products. Subjects will include mathematics, programming, and analogue and digital techniques. In addition, you'll be taking various practicals. Together with fellow students, you'll be completing project assignments based on intriguing challenges to put what you've learned into practice straight away. For example, you might learn to design and build a stress monitoring system or miniature energy supply.
If you find out during the year that you'd rather study a different Electrical and Electronic Engineering specialisation (Sensor Technology or Mechatronics), or would rather study the degree programme in Dutch, it's not a problem! You can just switch.
Year 2
In the second year, you'll dig into the specialisation you've chosen. If you chose Electronics, you'll study topics like power electronics, control engineering and advanced programming. Default subjects will include control engineering, robotics and data communication. In addition, you'll take practicals in workshops and apply the knowledge and skills you've gained in various projects originating from the professional field.
Year 3
In the third year, you'll explore your specialisation in even greater depth by taking a minor and doing an internship. How you use your elective space is up to you: you can take a minor at Hanze UAS, another university of applied sciences in the Netherlands or even abroad! During your internship, you'll put your knowledge and skills into practice for a national or international company or organisation. You decide for yourself which one.
Year 4 - Graduation
In your fourth and final year, you will complete the programme with an in-depth minor. You will also carry out a graduation assignment at an (inter)national company or organisation. With your graduation assignment you will demonstrate that you’ve acquired the skills of a mechatronics engineer highly desired by the professional field!
Program Outcome
On completion of the bachelor’s programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, you’ll be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science, which will open the door to the business community and a host of organisations (such as research institutes).
