BA (Hons) Media and Sociology
This interdisciplinary degree gives you the opportunity to explore sociological and communications theories alongside media practice, and to develop a critical analysis of media, communications and culture from historical and contemporary viewpoints.

- You'll be taught by some of the leading names in media, communications, cultural studies and sociology they've actively shaped these disciplines and youll be able to benefit from their expertise throughout your degree.
- In your second and third year, youll take media practice modules that develop your production skills. You'll have access to industry-standard practice facilities, including TV/film, radio and photography studios, digital video and audio editing suites, and animation software and hardware.
- You can choose from a range of modules during your degree you might study a variety of topics or decide to hone your skills in an area youre particularly interested in.
- Studying more than one subject means youll be able to bring an interdisciplinary outlook to whatever you encounter, whether its writing essays for your degree or tackling responsibilities in your future career.
- You'll develop the practical and transferable skills to help you find a career in media or sociology our recent graduates are now working as news readers, editors, journalists, producers and photographers.
- We regularly host debates and talks by international figures in media and cultural research recent guests have included film directors Danny Boyle, Gurinder Chadha and Noel Clark.
