Introduction

Capitol Technology University is strategically located just outside Washington DC. Established in 1927, Capitol Tech is focused on providing academic programs for the future workforce that lead to success in the evolving global community. The Master of Science in Computer Science program provides students with an opportunity to connect with faculty and peers who are passionate about the growing computer science field. Students will have the opportunity to focus on one of three areas: Software Engineering- Software engineering is a versatile field with a plethora of opportunities in various sectors.

From established tech giants like Google and Microsoft to disruptive startups, non-profits, and government, the need for software engineers is ubiquitous. This degree equips you with a versatile skill set that can be applied to any industry, giving you the freedom to choose your career path. Cybersecurity- The dynamic nature of the cybersecurity field means there's always something new to learn. Cyber threats continually evolve, and new technologies like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and blockchain present both new challenges and opportunities for cybersecurity.

This constant evolution makes cybersecurity an exciting field for lifelong learners and those who thrive on tackling complex problems. Artificial Intelligence- As technology evolves, artificial intelligence is greatly improving how humans interact with machines. From autonomy to advancement, AI’s machine learning allows for technology to evolve in ways we never imagined, and educated professionals are needed to steer this progress in an ethical and meaningful way.

Capitol Technology University invites you and your family to visit our suburban campus in Laurel, Maryland, near Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD. Witness firsthand our friendly atmosphere, excellent academic programs, small classes, state-of-the-art labs and resources, and comfortable residence halls.

    Admissions

    Step 1: Submit Application

    International first-time freshman and transfer students may use the Common Application or our Graduate Application for International Students. There is a $50 application fee.

    Step 2: Submit Proof of English Proficiency

    All non-native English speakers must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency. The following options are acceptable: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum score of 80 (internet-based)/550 (paper-based); International English Language Test (IELTS) minimum overall band score of 6.5 and no individual score lower than 6.0 Duolingo minimum score of 115; LanguageCert’s International ESOL B2 exam with all scores at 39 or higher (writing, reading, listening and speaking) SAT minimum Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 520; Evidence showing successful completion (C or higher) of English composition at an accredited university or college within the United States.

    Step 3: Submit Official Transcripts

    Have your undergraduate degree transcripts sent to Capitol. An official, signed transcript must be sent directly from your school(s) to the Office of Admissions. If you attended more than one institution, only those transcripts with the final degree posted should be submitted.

    Or have your transcripts sent electronically to Master's Admissions at Capitol Tech.

    For those applicants who have attended a post-secondary college and/or university outside of the United States, you must have your academic records evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) organization member. Regardless of citizenship, language, or home country, you must have your academic records evaluated by a NACES organization member. When selecting the type of evaluation, please be sure to select Course by Course Evaluation.

    How to Apply

    Write your application essay before starting the admission application, you cannot apply without the essay.

    Apply for a Doctoral Degree at Capitol Tech through the Admissions Online Application Form

    Within the application, you can attach both an essay and resume.

    2 recommendations are required and sent automatically from the application. You may access the recommendation form to send directly to your recommenders. The form must be returned to doctorate@captechu.edu

    To complete the application, please submit a $100 non-refundable fee.

    Please have Official Transcripts sent directly to Capitol Technology University.

    They can be sent electronically via email to the Doctoral Admissions at Capitol Tech (preferred method for time-sensitivity)

    Download the recommendation form from the admissions page of the myCapitol portal and have 2 recommendation forms sent to the above address.

    Once your file is complete, it will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee for review.
