Introduction
The MA in Literature, Landscape and Environment is for students interested in further study or a career in the rapidly expanding green industry. Bath is a World Heritage site, and you’ll study in the centre of a region rich with literary connections and with some of the finest landscapes in the country.
You’ll address questions that have become very important to contemporary English literary studies: How does literature debate humanity’s relationship with ‘Nature’? How do the conventions of representing various landscapes change over time? What makes ‘the country’ or ‘the wild’ what it is? How does literature represent environmental destruction?
The MA is founded upon staff expertise in the areas of blue humanities, ecocriticism, environmental writing, and literatures of place from the early modern to the contemporary scene. This interdisciplinary environment is further enhanced by our Research Centre in Environmental Humanities.
