As part of the Language & Intercultural Training Center of the SDI München, the German as a foreign language department draws on many years of tradition in language teaching. This BA (Honours) in Arts and Humanities (German) degree gives you the freedom to combine the study of different subject areas in the arts and humanities. You'll develop a specialism in German, exploring aspects of the language and its cultures around the world. You can combine this with a second specialism or choose to develop broader interests in art history, classical studies, creative writing, English language, English literature, history, other modern languages, music, philosophy, and religious studies.

There is BEd Training Kindergarten Teachers for German for Ethnic Minorities special emphasis on pedagogy of bilingualism, German nationality studies, German literature, children's literature, literature of German nationalities living in Hungary, German civilization and culture.

The three-semester Master’s degree programme in Translation, offered in the language combinations German–English or German–Chinese, provides in-depth further education in the fields of translation or multilingual communication. The competence goals of the Master's degree programme are based on the European Master’s in Translation (EMT) and cover the areas of language and culture, translation, technology, service competence as well as media and business.

Combining law with German is both stimulating and a smart career move. You’ll divide your study equally between both subjects. The master’s program in German language, literature and culture at the KRE imparts specialist knowledge in the areas of German literature, language and culture. Philologists who have excellent knowledge of German and who can master the professional challenges of the 21st century at a high intellectual level are trained here with continuously updated teaching focuses and methods. The language of the MA course is German throughout.

You’ll explore how businesses develop strategies, handle risk and make decisions. You’ll see what’s involved in functions such as marketing, accounting and finance. Combining this with the study of German opens doors to German-speaking cultures and communities, and can provide a key to the global workplace.

The summer courses in German as a foreign language offer a four-week intensive programme to give you a lively introduction into the German language and culture and to help you get fit for your studies at a German university. This course is aimed at all those at A2/B1 competence level who want to improve their German language skills for everyday working life. Simulating realistic workplace scenarios and applying targeted communication scenarios of everyday professional life (e.g. workplace conversations, returning phone calls, writing memos)

This is one of several subject combinations in our BA (Honours) in Language Studies with French and German. You’ll study a range of aspects relating to French and German language and culture around the world – including history, current affairs and the arts – through a range of interactive materials and practical activities.
