The Department of Biology and Biotechnology offers a Course for a Master's Degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics. This 2-year second-level degree (Biology class) is an intensive, full-time graduate program entirely taught in English and designed for graduates at the BA level who are seeking a qualification in advanced areas of Biology, with special attention to Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Biochemistry.

Biological sciences form the basis of many new areas of science and technology. They are the foundation of our understanding of a diverse range of subjects – from evolution, genetics and diversity to medicine, drug and human development.

In the Master's Programme in Genetics and Molecular Biosciences you will acquire knowledge and skills in modern genetics and molecular biosciences. You can specialise in Biochemistry and Structural Biology, Cell and Developmental Biology, Genetics and Genomics or Molecular Analytical Health Biosciences.

The graduate masters the basic methodology of molecular biology and genetics, gene engineering, population genetics, and microscopy, which is able to practice, apply and interpret in research, clinical practice, or education. The graduate has a general overview of the basic statistical methods used in the evaluation of the results. The graduate demonstrated the ability of independent, creative, and team scientific work, can process and interpret the results, and is able to present these results at the scientific forum in Czech and English. The graduate is fully acquainted with the rules of ethics of scientific work, rules, and ethics associated with the interpretation of results, handling of patients' data, and work with genetically modified organisms (GMO), principles of animal protection against cruelty, and working in harmony with them.

The Master in Genomics and Genetics aims to satisfy the demand for university training, within the SUG, in theoretical and experimental biology, veterinary medicine, food technology, pharmacy, forestry-agriculture and the environment, which represents an opportunity for / the students who require more training in frontiers of knowledge and technology in the life sciences in the Autonomous Community of Galicia.

The Genetics programme aims to develop experience through experimental work in genetics. This is done by original experimental work in various fields of genetics including molecular, plant, and human genetics or the genetics of microorganisms, gene engineering, cytogenetics and genotoxicology. The programme provides students with the modern knowledge and practical skills in genetics necessary for an independent scientific and professional career in the rapidly developing areas of genetic technologies, biomedicine and biotechnologies.

The program promotes excellence and educates students on the significant issues in Medical Genetics. The challenging curricula includes mandatory taught courses which cover the main aspects of Medical Genetics and a number of elective courses enabling students to broaden their knowledge on other fields of Medical Genetics. The MSc Research or Library Projects on various aspects of Medical Genetics are conducted in the state-of-the-art Departments and Clinics of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING).

The Doctoral Program in Pathology and Molecular Genetics (PDPGM) offers advanced training in pathology and molecular genetics. Targeted at young graduates or those with a master's in life and health sciences, it focuses on basic and translational research, as well as molecular diagnostics in biopathology.
