The SP2ARK - Space Plasma Propulsion: Advancements, Research, and Know-How Seasonal School will introduce participants to the topic of plasma-based electric propulsion (EP), which represents an enabling technology for a growing number of space applications, from low Earth orbit constellations to interplanetary missions. Interest in EP systems has accelerated in recent years, thanks to the technological maturity achieved by several concepts and the growth of a new space economy.

In ESEAS - Exploring Sea and Space: Technologies, Opportunities and Challenges last centuries, humanity has fully explored and mapped the emerged fraction of the Earth's surface; today it has a growing interest in exploring and exploiting the submerged fraction of the Earth as well as the nearby space regions, intensively.

Physics is the fundamental natural science. At its simplest, it is the study of energy and matter, their interactions, and their motion through space and time. Our department mentors an average of 22 majors in each class year, to give students the tools needed to study the nature of the universe. The Astronomy Major at Cornell University is designed to be flexible so that it can be customized to the needs of each student. There is a common core set of courses followed by two concentration paths: Astrophysics Concentration is designed for those who intend to go on to graduate school in the physical sciences such as Astronomy, Physics, or Engineering. General Astronomy Concentration is intended for students who do not plan on research careers in astronomy, but may have more broad intellectual interests, and are interested in related career paths, such as education or public outreach. The flexibility offered by the General Astronomy Concentration make it suitable to be elected as second major by a broad group of students.

This program is intended to give students a thorough background in basic physics and astronomy, as well as the historical development of modern physical concepts and the relationship of these basic sciences to other fields. It is a particularly appropriate program for those planning to enter careers on which science and technology have a large impact, such as law, business administration, governmental administration, technical writing, and science communication.

The range of astronomical phenomena is vast–from the Hot Big Bang origin of the Universe, to the death throes of collapsing stars, to the canyons of Mars. Any study of astronomy is enriched by a firm understanding of the physics underlying these phenomena. Our curriculum is shaped to provide our majors with a solid foundation in the basic principles of astronomy and physics, an understanding of the most recent developments in astronomy and cosmology, and the tools and inspiration to pursue further learning in the sciences.

The Solar System and Beyond is a fun and informative course for those fascinated by our solar system's mysteries. The course will feature an exploration of Earth, the solar system, stars, and galaxies.

The Astronomy Program is offered as a joint program with the physics departments at Harvey Mudd and Pomona Colleges. Courses are offered within the physics program and are intended for students who have an interest in the subject or those who may wish to pursue astrophysics at the graduate level.

A significant learning experience in the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world. The programs are designed to provide a comprehensive experience, including quality academic learning, activities in the field inserted in the midst of desert landscapes, where visitors can enjoy, share and exchange experiences. AIChile Team will introduce historical and archaeological sites, natural attractions such as Paranal Observatory, Geological Museums, Huanchaca Ruins, the sculpture ‘Mano del Desierto’ among other places, in San Pedro de Atacama you can visit The famous and mitic Moon Valley, Lascar Volcano, Geysers. Our programs are open to any who is interested, students, companies or simply groups of friends who want to acquire this type of experience as a personal goal. Guided tours, accommodation, meals, support material and more are included in these two wonderful weeks.

Students with an interest in astronomy or in astrophysics may take courses in the astronomy program with the physics departments at Harvey Mudd College and Pomona College. As part of the astronomy program, the participating colleges maintain facilities at the Table Mountain Observatory, located about one hour from campus in the San Gabriel Mountains. Equipment includes a 40-inch telescope with a photometer, CCD camera, IR camera, and CCD spectrograph. No major in astronomy is available at The Claremont Colleges; normally interested students major in physics.

Physicists’ findings shape society’s understanding of the universe, technological advancements, astronomical venturing, medicine, law, business and engineering. Physics and astronomy majors at DePauw gain expansive knowledge into the way the world physically works – from the very large (structure of the universe) to the very small (atoms, nuclei and even smaller matter). Rigorous courses taught in small class environments enable personal connections between student and professor, which fuel student-faculty research, both on campus and in national and international collaborations. Students also collaborate in the classroom, as members of the Society of Physics Students, Sigma Pi Sigma physics honor society, and by conducting research in historic McKim Observatory.
