Slovakia doesn’t have a central application portal. Instead, applications are made to individual schools. Slovakia works a little differently to many other countries. Most Slovakian schools don’t require proof of your English abilities, nor for you to explain educational gaps. Instead, your motivational letter counts.

This is your chance to really prove your knowledge of English and why you want to study in Slovakia.
More competitive programs, like medicine, may still require proof of your English abilities, though. You can find out more about meeting English requirements here.
To apply to programs in Slovakia, you’ll generally need the following:
- A completed application form. You can find this on your chosen school’s website.
- Pay the application fee. This varies from €30 (US$35) to €80 (US$95). You’ll need to keep the receipt once you’ve paid.
- An excellent letter of motivation
- A letter of recommendation
- Your CV. Some postgraduate and doctoral programs also require an academic CV.
- Copies of your grade transcripts
You’ll need to present these documents in the original language and, if they’re not in English, with a notarized Slovak translation.
Once a decision has been made, you’ll need to keep your acceptance letter. You’ll need this for your visa application.
