Welcome to our official rankings for the top 10 places in the world for US students to study abroad in 2026!
We created these rankings to determine the top places in the world for US students in 2026 based on the most important factors that students consider when choosing their study abroad destination.
How we calculate our rankings
Step 1: We got the top reasons for studying abroad from our own international student survey* that reached 42,000 prospective students representing 200+ countries (for this list we only considered the answers from the students from the US). This determined 5 factors to rank the countries:
- University rankings
- Achieving career goals
- Culture and lifestyle
- Personal development
- Adventure
Step 2: We gathered all the relevant external sources**, such as QS University Rankings, the Quality of Life Index, and the number of US students in different countries, and calculated each country's score for every factor.
Step 3: We weighted the factors and combined them to create the final list of the top 10 countries!
