8 Online Theology and Divinity Degree Programs in South Africa

The aim of this programme is to equip students with a Christian, interdisciplinary approach to engaging real-world crises and opportunities. With an emphasis on skillful biblical interpretation and theological understanding, students engage a broad set of contextual issues facing South Africa today and develop an integrative response (drawing from psychological, theological and sociological perspectives). A sense of personal vocation is therefore nurtured, with an emphasis on practical application.

We aim to produce graduates capable of managing teams and organisations who approach their task from deep Christian convictions and acquire the management knowledge, tools and skills that business studies can provide.

This programme enables graduates to work in a wide variety of community development projects (e.g. government, NGO, churches). We aim to produce community workers who approach their task from deep Christian convictions and acquire the sociological knowledge, tools and skills that development studies can provide.

This programme develops Christian leaders with a broad theoretical and practical foundation in Christian ministry. Graduates will be grounded in Biblical texts and equipped with the knowledge and skills to serve in churches and faith-based organisations. Academic study and personal faith are integrated to produce leaders with a mature, holistic spirituality.

In Master of Arts in Religious Studies an appropriate bachelor honours degree, or an appropriate postgraduate diploma, or a 480 credit bachelor's degree with a minimum of 96 credits at NQF level 8 in Religious Studies or a related field with an average of 60%. A student who is admitted on the strength of a postgraduate diploma or a 480-credit bachelor's degree with a minimum of 96 credits at level 8 and who has not completed a module in research methodology may be required to complete such a module ((RST4804) at NQF level 8 for NDP before he/she will be allowed to register for the dissertation.

This programme aims to produce a distinctive kind of counsellor: men and women who are deeply informed by both the Christian faith and the human science of psychology. We aim to produce graduates with a special ability to integrate Christian understanding of the human condition together with findings provided by the human sciences to help people on their journey to wholeness.

The curriculum consists of a dissertation that incorporates a research proposal to be completed within the first year of study
