Throughout their study, the Ph.D. students are an integral part of ongoing RD projects. They actively publish the findings of their scientific work and are introduced to the scientific community by their mentors. The study requires a minimum of four academic years of study. After the successful defense of the thesis, the students are awarded the Ph.D. degree.

The program focuses on elementary mathematics and computer science, their history, as well as teaching. In elementary mathematics and computer science, the emphasis is placed on topics that connect and extend both high-school and university curricula. In history, attention is paid especially to the 19th and 20th centuries, Czech mathematics and computer science. History is also closely related to problems of teaching, as the progress of science depends on the transfer of knowledge from teachers to students, which is supported by textbooks.

Students who completed their (follow-up) master´s studies in the same field of study or a related one will be admitted to PhD studies. Applicants who have duly submitted their application and have attached all the required documents will be subjected to individual assessment of the submitted documentation (results of previous studies, CV, a list of published and unpublished works) and the opinion of the supervisor will be taken into account.
