12 Sustainability and Environment Degree Programs in Cyprus

The Ph.D. degree in Biodiversity & Ecology aims at providing students with high-quality education of international standing, so that they can develop a deep understanding of their science and versatile thinking, something critical for their professional career in the modern environment.

The MSc/MPhil in Environmental and Energy Sciences promotes research excellence and educates students on the scientific frontiers and advanced methodologies at the vanguard of interconnected issues related to Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences, Water Sciences, Energy and Sustainability.

The programme examines different kinds of legal approaches/techniques for responding to challenges related to the transition to sustainability in a globalized context. It covers both international and European regulatory approaches from different perspectives with the aim of providing a well-rounded and nuanced understanding of the combination of sustainability and human rights. 

The program promotes research excellence and educates students on the scientific frontiers and advanced methodologies at the vanguard of interconnected issues related to Climate and Atmospheric Sciences, Energy, Hydrology, Sustainable Built Environment, and Sustainable Policy.

The Master of Science in Green Transition and Sustainable Development (E-Learning) is a postgraduate program designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills, and tools required to address global and regional sustainability challenges.

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program is designed to offer first-class scientific and clinical training in veterinary medicine. The program enables students to understand the basic biological principles of normal body function and disease, and the ability to distinguish the pathological from the normal, to prevent disease and safely manage the processes of animal production.

The M.Sc. in Biodiversity Conservation program has a duration of 3 academic semesters (and up to 8 semesters for part-time study) and requires the completion of 90 ECTS. It combines a course component of 60 ECTS in total for which each student can choose from a list of Restricted Elective Courses (see Postgraduate Prospectus) as the series of compulsory departmental postgraduate seminars.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED) aims to set new standards as an international Master in the field of globalization, education and international development. The programme has been recently awarded an Erasmus+ grant by the European Commission for the third time, covering the years 2023-2029.

In Cyprus, where the tradition of Gardening and Landscaping is relatively small, the Mediterranean climate creates particular challenges, but with a special adaptation of traditional methods, materials and practices. The two-year programme "Gardening" is a professional programme which, in the direction of the word "learn to do", introduces the students to historical and modern practices and techniques for Gardening, Cultivation and Arboriculture, which are appropriate for the Mediterranean climate. The programme is geared to the Gardening for dry-thermal environments, seaside landscapes and mountainous areas.

The objective of ABF undergraduate program of study is to provide education in Agriculture covering all areas of agricultural activity and processing of agricultural and livestock products. The educational program aims to make graduates capable of working as consultants in the crop or animal science and production and/or food science and technology of agricultural products, depending on the direction they choose, and / or as consultants for rural development.

The postgraduate program aims to provide of postgraduate education of a high standard and generate graduates in the field of Agricultural Biotechnology in its broad sense, able to support the country's competitiveness and productivity, by providing services, expertise and research, leading to direct and indirect positive effects on the social and economic developmental at the regional and national level. The Master's Degree programme offers theoretical training in basic sciences governing biotechnological achievements, with advanced modules in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Microbiology and specialized modules in Genetic Engineering, Biotechnological Applications, Bio-economics, Bioethics and Biosafety, Molecular Ecology and Bioinformatics.

The DVM program at EUC follows a competency-based, integrated curriculum which equips students with Day One Competencies--enabling graduates to independently perform entry-level tasks and duties in the veterinary profession. All core subjects follow the European System of Evaluation of Veterinary Training (ESEVT) requirements and other EU and international directives.
