Spend the summer on Pratt’s Brooklyn campus in intensive art, design, architecture, or creative writing courses, informed and inspired by the backdrop of New York City. During this four-week full-time program, students develop conceptual and technical skills; and create portfolio pieces for college admission, while earning elective college credits.

UM’s Pre-College Summer Program Summer Exploration experience is a transformative live-in experience while exploring all aspects of student life as you engage with world-class faculty, explore iconic landscapes and communities surrounding Missoula, Montana, and build meaningful connections with other high school students and graduating seniors, like yourself.

Students learn to properly expose, develop, and print black and white 35mm film. Lectures introduce historical and contemporary photographic practices. Students have weekly assignments and should be prepared to develop their own ideas.

Provides a basic technical and conceptual understanding of the medium of photography. Students learn the basics of RAW image capture using a 35mm DSLR camera, non-destructive image file management, input and output resolution management, establishment of a digital workflow, adjustment and editing in Adobe Photoshop, and high-end archival inkjet printing.

CAS PY 105 course covers some of the basic principles underlying the physics of everyday life, including forces and motion, momentum and energy, harmonic motion, rotation, and heat and thermodynamics.

Intensive exposure to some of the basic writing formats in the communications profession: news releases, letters, features, and profiles. Lead writing, editing, and techniques of interviewing. Extensive writing and rewriting. Develops basic writing skills for different audiences.

Presents fundamental knowledge and skills for applying business analytics to managerial decision-making in corporate environments. Provides students with the analytical tools to analyze, manage, and improve manufacturing, service, and business processes.

Covers the quantitative analysis tools to support operations management for a supply chain that is geographically dispersed and culturally diverse. Discusses the tools necessary to ensure that the products/services are delivered/provided in a quality and timely manner.

Explores the history, nature, function, and social and economic aspects of advertising: ethical responsibilities, psychological appeals, marketing, media research, product analysis, creative strategies, and agency operation. Students prepare a comprehensive advertising plan including a marketing strategy and speculative advertising campaigns.

Introduces the nature of philosophical activity through careful study of major philosophical topics. Topics may include the nature of reality, knowledge, God's existence, and the significance of human life.

Examines the increasing importance of leadership and communications in projects. Since project outcomes and the delivery of value are accomplished through teams of people, the course aims to improve the capability of a project manager to become a project leader and to excel at motivating and inspiring their teams.
