The Rothberg International School (RIS) at Hebrew University offers a wide array of short-term courses and programs throughout the year. You can choose courses from our July, August, and winter sessions, as well as elect to take language courses or participate in archaeological field schools. We also work directly with faculty and study abroad offices in developing faculty-led and other customized programs.

Mineral water holds both exclusive socio-economic value, rooted in industrialization and commercialization processes, and deep cultural value significance for local populations who have used spring waters on a daily basis over time. The complexity of water-rock interaction processes, which give rise to the unique composition of mineral waters, requires integrated and multidisciplinary approaches for their effective characterization. This Summer School will offer a comprehensive, field-based learning experience, covering a broad range of topics crucial to the study of mineral and thermal waters

The course traces the history of genocide in the 20th century and the question of humanitarian intervention to stop it, a topic that has been especially controversial since the end of the Cold War. The pre-1990s discussion begins with the Armenian genocide during the First World War and includes the Holocaust and Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s. Coverage of genocide and humanitarian intervention since the 1990s includes the wars in Bosnia, Rwanda, Kosovo, the Congo, and Sudan. The final session of the course will be devoted to a discussion of the International Criminal Court and the separate criminal tribunals that have been tasked with investigating and punishing the perpetrators of genocide.

This summer school is a full-immersion workshop on cell culture techniques for both adherent and suspension cell lines with particular emphasis on cell viability assays. In the workshop, schematic theoretical lectures will be given to introduce the assay protocols and to plan the experimental part that will be hosted in cell biology laboratories.
