26 Entrepreneurship and Innovation Summer Course Programs

Provides students with a powerful set of tools that prepares them to analyze, formulate, and implement business firm strategy to attain sustainable competitive advantage. Adopts the perspective of the general manager, challenging student knowledge in each functional area in the effort to create integrative strategies that serve the needs of shareholders, as well as other stakeholders inside and outside the company.

The Summer Course in Innovation and Future thinking —the Futures Lab—will help students improve their ability to detect signals of change, organize insights into understandable models, synthesize new ways of mapping possible futures, identify the potential barriers and opportunities these futures present, and design innovative products, services or ideas that satisfy emerging needs.

The program is designed for PhD students, researchers, and scholars in Innovation, Strategy Management, Management and Business, who wish to explore how text analysis can transform the way we analyse and interpret textual data from documents such as patents, scientific publications, and product reviews. Given the widespread use of LLMs across research fields and business contexts.

Business & Entrepreneurship introduces our students to the processes behind developing a business idea and teaches them how they can use that to make a positive impact on the world.

How does the entrepreneurship process enable the creation and growth of high-impact enterprises? Why does entrepreneurial leadership matter even in a large organization or a non-profit venture? What are the differences between just an idea and a true opportunity? How do entrepreneurs form teams and gather the resources necessary to create a successful startup? Mentor-guided projects focus on analyzing students' ideas, case studies allow for examining the nuances of innovation, the research examines the entrepreneurial process, and expert guests allow for networking with Silicon Valley's world-class entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. Undergraduates of all majors with an interest in startups, leverage breakthrough information, energy, medical, and consumer technologies.

Required for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor. Open to visiting students during the summer. Explores the conceptual frameworks that guide ideation and innovation, focusing on the five learning principles of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor. Analyzes the conditions that foster innovation as well as the process by which ideas progress from conception to implementation and execution, along with their economic or social impact.

The international School on “Framing Livestock and Agriculture Innovation, Resilience and Sustainability (FLAIRS)” will provide theoretical and practical training on the definition, framing, and dissection of the environmental and economic sustainability (with some hints on the social aspects) in agri-livestock systems and its value chain.

An overview of the interdisciplinary study of cognition, information, communication, and language, with an emphasis on foundational issues: What are minds? What is computation? Two aspects play an important role here: sustainable entrepreneurship and the life cycle of the small firm. You will be supported by an excellent team, consisting of academic professors and guest speakers from practice.

In this course, you will participate in active and creative workshops and excursions, and you will attend lectures from experts about the essentials of the Circular Economy, how it tackles social and ecological problems, and which innovations in business, policy, and civil society are important for the Circular Economy. We will pay special attention to how human and non-human beings can live together in urban environments, with real-world examples from the city of Amsterdam. At the end of this course, you will be inspired and empowered to develop your own circular business, policy, or social initiative.
