21 Economics Summer Course Programs

Second semester of a two-semester sequence of empirical techniques used in economic analysis. Statistical concepts are presented and applied to a variety of economic problems. Extensive use of the statistical software package STATA is made.

This is an introductory course in economics. We will cover both microeconomics (investigating decisions by individuals and firms) and macroeconomics (examining the economy as a whole).

Extensive use of the statistical software package STATA is made. Students must register for two sections: lecture and discussion.

Applies the tools of microeconomic theory and empirical methods to study questions such as the optimal design of sports leagues, the impact of new stadiums on a local economy, fan (customer) discrimination, and salary differentials between players.

The possibilities for economic measurement have been transformed through observation of the earth from satellites. In this course, we will study the array of possibilities in free and commercial imagery, and link up to applications in economic research and industry.

The second semester of a standard two-semester sequence is for those considering further work in management or economics. National economic performance; the problems of recession, unemployment, and inflation; money creation; government spending and taxation; economic policies for full employment and price stability; and international trade and payments.

The Summer School on Blue Economy is an interdisciplinary and experiential learning program focused on ocean sustainability, climate resilience, and maritime innovation. Through expert-led modules, coastal field trips, workshops, and team challenges, participants will be able to: - understand the dynamics between oceans and climate systems

Determination of commodity prices and factor prices under differing market conditions of competition and monopoly.

Determination of aggregate income and employment. Analysis of fiscal and monetary policy. Inflation and income policy. Problems of the open economy.

Students will take on an immersive learning journey with top PKU and UChicago faculty lectures and hands-on capstone project experience. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion jointly awarded by Peking University and the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
