The Easter School “Writing the Essay Beyond Borders” is part of the activities of the Erasmus+ Project Essays Beyond Borders, in which Università di Pisa is a partner along with the universities of Malta, Ghent, and Groningen, as well as the Slovenian Writers’ Association.

Online workshop whose primary focus is on giving students a skill set to tap into their own creativity. Opportunities for students to explore their creative strengths, develop a vocabulary with which to discuss their own creativity, and experiment with the craft and adventure of their own writing. Students will come out of the course strengthened in their ability to identify and pursue their own creative interests.

The elements of fiction writing: narration, description, and dialogue. Students write complete stories and participate in story workshops. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: PWR 1 (waived in the summer quarter). Note: First priority to Undergraduates. Students must attend the first class meeting to retain their roster spot.

The English 9CE course is designed to immerse students in the realm of creative writing through a blend of activities including readings, written exercises, collaboration, conversation, and playful exploration. By engaging with these elements, students will sharpen their awareness of the world around them, learning to respond creatively to the things that pique their interest and stir their emotions. Embracing the ethos of risk-taking and embracing failure as part of the process, students will discover the value of revision as an opportunity for growth.

Strategies and conventions for Graduate writing. Emphasis is on fluency, organization, documentation, and appropriateness for writing tasks required in coursework and in producing research papers. Fulfills the requirement for EFSLANG 698A.

Students taking this class must be enrolled in the IB Diploma and writing their IB Extended Essay in English (with a topic that has already been approved by their school).

Students will develop essential academic study skills, from effective writing and research skills to exam preparation and public speaking, helping them prepare for the final years of high school and early years of university.

With so few writing programs that cater exclusively to high school girls, Smith's Young Women's Writing Workshop allows you to explore your writing in a creative and supportive environment that fosters your love of writing in a variety of mediums.

Throughout the course, students will draw inspiration from the City of Edinburgh: its history, landscape, and literary legacy, through tours, visits and a performance session, to explore the story they wish to tell. In the second part of the course, students will attend sessions which will focus on one format of creative writing of their choosing (prose, scriptwriting and poetry). Students will nurture their creative talent in a supportive environment, by learning from highly experienced, expert teachers, and gaining specialist, individual feedback during one-to-one sessions on their developing creative work.

For students who want to apply their drawing talents to the art of comic book storytelling. Learn about the many influences comics, and their characters, have had on society. You will gain an understanding of effective visual storytelling techniques as well as best practices for the comic creation process. Using traditional materials such as pencil and ink, you will create a visual narrative accompanied by a written script.
