Make sure to consult the institution to check the requirements or if you have specific questions. We’re here to help you make the process easier. In the meantime, you can follow these steps to begin the process!

NOTE: If you're interested in applying for programs in Israel, please note many universities have extended their application dates in light of COVID-19. Contact the universities directly for more information about extended application deadlines.

Find a program

Want to study in Israel? Find and compare programs

1. Choose a Program

Start by choosing a degree program that is right for you. Select the level of studies you are looking for (bachelor, master, PhD), your field of study and the institution you’d like to attend. English is widespread in Israeli higher education, and you should not have difficulty finding a program offered in English – especially at the master’s level. If your existing studies haven’t been in English, you may be required to take an English proficiency test.

2. Prepare the Paperwork

Once you've chosen a program, look up the admission requirements on the institution’s website and remember that these may vary between institutions. Depending on the type of program and your academic history, you may be asked to provide some of the following documents during the application process:

  • Academic transcripts and diplomas from previous studies;
  • Proof of English proficiency;
  • Academic recommendation letters;
  • Curriculum Vitae or resume;
  • Statement of Purpose;
  • GRE or GMAT scores;
  • Medical certificate;

3. Check Specific Admission Requirements

Depending on the institution and/or program, you may have to fulfill specific admission requirements. Take the time to carefully research your program of choice to ensure that you’re eligible before applying! In Israel, some universities make it mandatory for international students to participate in an intensive language course in a Hebrew school (ulpan) prior to the start of their regular studies.

Programs held in English will have specific English language requirements and proof of proficiency will generally be in the form of a TOEFL test score or an equivalent (such as previous studies in English). Always consult the institution’s website for specific admission requirements and contact them if you have any questions. It’s always better to ask if you’re unsure!

4. Wait to Be Admitted

After you’ve submitted all the necessary documents, admission results can take some time to arrive. Once you’ve been accepted, the institution will send you a formal letter of acceptance that confirms your course details and the starting dates. You will need these documents to attain a student visa to travel to Israel to study.

5. Apply for a Visa

Once you’ve been accepted by a higher education institution in Israel, you can begin the application process for an A/2 student visa in your nearest Israeli embassy or consulate. The process can take time and requires several important documents, so don’t dilly-dally! You will not be able to study in Israel without a student visa.

6. Arrive in Israel

After you’ve been admitted to a higher education institution in Israel and have received your visa, it’s time to start your study abroad adventure! Make sure to investigate the cost of living in the city you will be staying in and what your budget will be. Once you have that, you can begin to look for accommodation. Finally, it’s time to purchase your transportation to Israel and arrive in your new home city! No matter where you’re staying, there are plenty of sights and attractions to be enjoyed.
