Informatics Systems

The aim of the informatics Programme is to prepare IT professionals capable to perform analysis of real-world problems, designing and implementing IT solutions for solving the identified problems, and understanding the reciprocal interactions between IT, society, and business. Through its three specializations, the Programme aims to prepare broad-minded specialists having fundamental and state-of-the-art knowledge of modern information technologies (IT).

Specializations:

  • Artificial Intelligence SystemsSpecialization of the Programme aims at preparing specialists, who have a strong knowledge foundation and adequate skills to apply data and system analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning methods in business, medical, open data and other systems.
  • Business InformaticsSpecialization of the Programme aims at preparing specialists, who have a strong knowledge foundation and adequate skills for applying key business management tools and e-service projects of different scales in a business environment.
  • Software SystemsSpecialization of the Programme aims at preparing specialists, who have a strong knowledge foundation and adequate skills for the management of the software development cycle, application of software testing, quality assurance techniques, and management of complex cross-platform software development projects.

Admission requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent degree (Mathematics, Biology, and/or Chemistry have to be included in the curriculum).
  • Proof of English Language proficiency: the applicant has to present a document proving B2 level (TOEFL 87-109 iBT/534-633 PBT, IELTS 5-6,5, Cambridge English First (FCE) 161-180, BEC Vantage 161-180, Michigan ECCE (min. 650), PTE General Level 3, TOEIC Listening & Reading 785, TOEIC Speaking & Writing 310, Duolingo 100-125, EnglishScore 400-499) if the applicant is not a native speaker and/or had not received education in English.
  • The admission score is counted based on: The motivation letter*0,3 + English*0,3 + Mathematics*0,2 + Biology or Chemistry *0,2.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of business systems and corresponding software systems.
  • Apply basic data analysis, modeling, and data management methods.
  • Apply knowledge of software lifecycle and its management to the design and support of information technology systems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of in-depth computer science knowledge in designing information technology applications in different fields.
  • Carry out interdisciplinary scientific and applied computer science research, and apply the obtained research results in practice.
  • Formalize and specify real-world problems, describe them in an abstract way, and employ formal reasoning.
  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, and maintain software systems and information technology-related business solutions.
  • Analyze and critically evaluate the latest trends in computer science, and apply this knowledge in designing innovative systems.
  • Clearly and convincingly present problems and proposed solutions to experts and non-specialists, based on relevant knowledge and reasoning, using adequate presentation tools, media, and methods.
  • Work in a team and lead it, including interdisciplinary teams and staff with different qualifications.
  • Plan self-directed learning, based on individual needs and continuous professional development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the economic, legal, social, ethnic, and environmental context in computer science projects.
  • Adapt to rapidly changing cultural, economic, and technological environments.

Career paths

  • Graduates of the Informatics Programme will be able to work as software developers, software testers, software architects, analysts, project managers, and system administrators in different organizations, state institutions, and business units.
  • Graduates of Informatics may continue in Master studies in Computer Science (Informatics) or Computer Engineering.
