Russian Philology (BA)

The programme aims at providing fundamentals in linguistics and literary theory, developing communication abilities in Russian (C1-C2), understanding about Russian culture and ability to analyze and evaluate the phenomena of Russian language and literature in a broader linguistic and literary context, as well as abilities of critical thinking, independent learning, communication and cooperation in a multicultural environment. During practical training at the University and professional practice period students will acquire the basic skills of editing, translation and/or interpretation, teaching Russian as a foreign language, culture dissemination (e.g., tour guide) or research.

Admission requirements

  • High school / secondary education (or higher)
  • Russian language should meet the requirements of level B2 and upwards according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, i.e. a candidate should be able to communicate information concerning basic human needs, place of living, family, studies and academic activities orally and in writing. Students should also be able to read short, simple texts and understand simple academic discourse in their field of study.
