Master in Electrical Vehicle Engineering

Electric systems within the automotive industry are becoming more and more advanced. Now you can develop the knowledge you need to work as a highly qualified designer, test engineer or development engineer in the automotive industry. This specialised training offers a novel approach in relation to traditional programmes. Our programme was designed in collaboration with the automotive industry to prepare you for a high-demand career in electric vehicles and electric powertrain. This is a full-time, one-year programme with in-person labs and company visits. It is possible to study the programme both online or on campus.

Admission requirements

You will be considered for admission to the Master in Electric Vehicle Engineering if you fulfil the following entry requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Additionally the Bachelor of Science degree must be comprised of a minimum of 5 HE credits in programming and 15 HE credits in mathematics.
  • Proof of English proficiency

Scholarships & funding

Applicants for the Master in Electric Vehicle Engineering can also apply for a University West Scholarship if they meet certain requirements. The University West Scholarship covers 25 percent of the tuition fee. 

Swedish Institute Scholarships

Students admitted to master's programmes in Sweden can apply for a scholarship to cover their tuition fee. There is a national scholarship programme administrated by the Swedish Institute (SI) towards specific countries.

Program delivery

This program will be taught on campus (with online components). 

Tuition fees

For the academic year 2021/2022 the tuition fee for this programme will be SEK 130,000 (approx. €12,500). You will pay the tuition fee per semester (in two instalments)

Students with citizenship in countries not within the EU/EEA or Switzerland are required to pay tuition fees for university studies in Sweden.

Master of Science (MSc, 60 credits) in Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in Electric Vehicle Engineering

Continuing studies

This programme helps you build a strong foundation in the field of electric vehicles. You can go on to develop the qualifications you need to pursue your PhD in the fields of:

  • Power electronics
  • Measuring technology
  • Additive manufacturing
