Program description

This course is ideal for you if you hold a foundation degree or diploma in:
• Health and Social Care
• Medical Laboratory Technology
• Physician Assistantship
• Dental Nursing
• Healthcare Science
• other Life Science and Healthcare related subjects
and wish to convert your diploma to an honours degree.
The course provides opportunities to develop graduate skills and deepen your knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of evidence based health care.
The course will help you to develop systematic knowledge and understanding of health and healthcare practice, including a coherent and detailed knowledge within the context of theories, concepts, care standards, research, professional issues, and policy initiatives to enhance your professional and career development.
You will also develop the ability to proactively use knowledge and deploy established techniques of analysis and enquiry to meet the challenges of a changing healthcare environment.
Our teaching methods:
• encourage students to develop as independent learners
• promote an experiential approach to learning through the use of simulation
• accommodate and develop different preferred learning styles
• enable reflective practice through the maintenance of learning logs
• make learning materials accessible through a variety of media
• encourage participants to engage in the pursuit of life-long learning
• develop higher level learning skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation
Majority of our students will already be working within a relevant environment though this is not a prerequisite for entry to the course.

For students joining the course who are not already in employment, the University of West London's Volunteering service provides opportunities for you to gain experience, develop new and existing skills to enhance your employability, meet new people and build confidence and self-esteem. Our students are encouraged to work with the UWL V-Team and join the Volunteer Placements and Project leader training schemes

The course will help you to top-up your current diploma in healthcare related subjects to an honours degree.
You may then be able to pursue further careers at post-graduate level in areas such as Healthcare Management, Life Coaching, Wellbeing, Bioinformatics, Genomics Medicine, Nursing, Medicine, Physician Assistance, and Public Health.
