Computing and Electronics (Foundation Year)
The Foundation Year course is a one-year full time programme to allow students from a variety of different academic backgrounds to achieve the entry requirements for BSc/BEng programmes within the School of Applied Computing.
The course, which has two streams, offers a grounding in the skills required for students' target programme of study, including programming, electronics and maths.
The Foundation Year, which is also offered as a stand-alone CertHE, is designed to allow students to gain the correct skills for entry on to BSc/BEng programmes within the School of Applied Computing. Two streams are offered in the following areas:
- Computing Stream
- Electronics Stream
All streams have core common modules offering instruction in skills such as Maths, Science and Academic Writing. Each stream also has specialised modules relating to the area of study (see modules below for details)
Following the successful completion of the Foundation Year (CertHE), students will qualify for entry on to the following degree programmes as follows:
- Computing Stream -> All degree programmes of the BSc Computing Portfolio
- Electronics Stream -> BEng Electronic Engineering or BEng Electrical and Electronics Engineering
