About this program

Classics (BA)

The BA Classics is a language-based degree and is perfect for those who wish to attain a mastery of Greek and Latin. You can study for the BA in Classics whether you already know Greek and Latin or you are a complete beginner.

This course allows students not only to study the fascinating world of Graeco-Roman Antiquity, with its culture, literary outputs and famous figures like Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar, but also to explore this through direct engagement with Greek and Latin texts and inscriptions. Students can really get to grips with the ancient world, not relying on translations by modern authors, but truly appreciate this material in a direct and unmediated way.

Admission requirements

Grades are important; however, our offers are not solely based on academic results. We are interested in creative people that demonstrate a strong commitment to their chosen subject area and therefore we welcome applications from individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.

To assess student suitability for their chosen course we normally arrange interviews for all applicants at which your skills, achievements and life experience will be considered as well as your qualifications.
