Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management

The Australian Maritime College’s three-year Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management degree is designed to prepare students for management careers in the dynamic and internationally-focused maritime and logistics industries.

This specialist business degree will provide you with high-level expertise and knowledge of maritime business in the global arena, international logistics services and strategies, as well as the structuring, operation and coordination of supply chains. Our program will equip graduates with the ability to contribute substantially to strategic decision making to maintain, enhance and drive these industries now and into the future.

Our Global Logistics and Maritime Management degree is distinctive, proving students will unmatched opportunities to engage directly with leaders from Australian and International maritime and logistics industries. You will learn from highly qualified teaching staff and invited speakers from logistics and maritime professions, industry workshops, and experience frequent site visits to warehouses and seaports.

Course objectives

The Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management provides graduates with high-level expertise and knowledge to understand the maritime business in the global arena, the world-wide spanning logistics services and strategies, as well as the structuring, operation and coordination of supply chains.

While exposing students to principles in financial management, international business, human resource management and strategic management, the course offers a clear focus on key components of the maritime and logistics industries, such as port management, logistics, supply chains, warehousing, procurement. It expands also to key principles in maritime economics, commercial, transport and maritime law.

With a focus on an applied approach to these critical areas, centred on strategic and analytical thinking and decision making skills, the course provides a unique educational experience with high level of relevance to specific global shipping and logistics industries. The program aims to produce graduates able to contribute substantially to strategic decision making to maintain, enhance and drive these industries now and into the future.

For those applicants who are nationals of and currently residing in a country where English is NOT the official language, evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last two years must be provided.

Qualification

You will graduate with the abilities and skills to:

  • Analyse the local and global impact of ICT on individuals, organisations, and society;
  • Adapt and apply techniques for acquiring, converting, transmitting, storing, managing and analysing data, information and knowledge;
  • select and effectively apply processes, methodologies, tools, research skills and techniques to analyse, model, develop, source, integrate and manage ICT products and services;
  • Monitor the changing direction of ICT and evaluate and communicate the likely utility of emerging ICT to an individual or organisation;
  • Explain and adapt appropriate ICT to support business processes and decision making to help an organisation achieve its objectives;
  • Identify and analyse user needs and take them into consideration during the selection, creation, evaluation and administration of ICT systems;
  • Analyse a problem, identify and define the ICT requirements, and apply knowledge of ICT principles and technical skills to develop and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of potential solutions; and
  • Design, implement, and evaluate and ICT interface, system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs and manage the change associated with the implementation and integration.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management degree will:

  1. Build broad and coherent body of knowledge, with depth in the underlying principles and concepts in global logistics and maritime management as a basis for independent lifelong learning
  2. Develop cognitive, analytical, and creative skills to analyse consolidate and synthesize knowledge in the global logistics and maritime management domain
  3. Perform critical thinking and solve diverse and complex problems in the global logistics and maritime management, incorporating social, ethical, regulatory, and global perspectives
  4. Present a clear, coherent and independent exposition of knowledge, concepts and ideas relevant to global logistics and maritime management
  5. Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for self-directed autonomous learning and professional practice in the global logistics and maritime management context in collaboration with others
