Engineering Management - MSc

The MSc in Engineering Management provides high-level competencies for mathematical modeling, optimization, decision making, and management of systems and organizations. The study program is focused on managerial economics, data and decision analysis, marketing, game theory, logistics and production planning, and project management.

Graduates in Engineering Management at the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics are interdisciplinary managers with advanced problem-solving skills and a holistic view of modern companies in today's economic and social context, thus able to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for complex organizations.

The MSc in Engineering Management includes some mandatory courses providing the basic knowledge of fundamental skills. Moreover, by profiting from the wide spectrum of eligible courses, it is possible to choose multidisciplinary and personalized tracks.

Admission requirements

Bachelor/Undergraduate diploma (or higher)

After you have applied, an Enrolment Committee will assess your competences and skills against the requirements of the MSc program.

Admission criteria

Your application will be processed only if the GPA of your undergraduate degree is above the minimum values reported here: list of minimum GPA by country

The competences required to be admitted to the MSc in engineering are:

  • a background in mathematics, statistics and physics, equivalent to the one achieved in first-level (B.A.) engineering degrees;
  • basics principles of computer science, control, electronics and telecommunications;
  • basic programming skills.

Non-EU citizens

Non-EU citizens are invited to contact the Italian Diplomatic Representation of their countries as soon as possible in order to obtain all the required documents for the pre-enrollment at the University of Siena and for information regarding the VISA process.

EU citizens – Non EU citizens with regular permit to stay – Italians with degrees obtained abroad

They must contact the appropriate Italian Diplomatic Representation in order to obtain all the documents required for enrollment in the University of Siena.

Language requirements

In order to take the MSc courses, students must have an adequate knowledge of the English language, at least of level B1 as established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students can demonstrate to possess the required knowledge level either through a recognized international certification (see the list) of international certifications recognized by the University of Siena), or by passing a B2 level exam at the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA).

After enrolment in Siena, students having an international certification must present it to the CLA office. The CLA is located in Piazza San Francesco 7, Siena (more details can be found in the related website).
