University of Siena
The University of Siena is one of the most a prestigious and historical European Athenaeum (year of foundation 1240); through the centuries it has been consolidating an excellent quality of teaching and research.
Now this University is facing a rapidly changing scenario, where competitiveness and, at the same time, collaboration between international Higher Education Institutions represent a new challenge.
USIena offers 33 Bachelor Degrees, 36 Masters Degrees, 5 Long-cycle degrees, 23 PhD Programmes and a number of post-graduate and specialization courses.
To facilitate the international students in their studies, a considerable number of programs (1 Bachelor’s and 17 Master’s) are totally delivered in English.
14 Double Degree Programmes with 13 different destinations are also available; these special exchange programmes allow students to be awarded their Degree at the University of Siena and at a foreign partner Institution.
Despite being a medium-sized University (15 Departments, less than 20000 students enrolled, of which almost 10% international), each year the USIena welcomes over 550 International exchange students and over 400 international students within Summer Programmes.
Today, USIena is among Italy’s leading universities with results of the highest quality in terms of innovation for research, education and services.
The great reputation of USIena is confirmed by the annual CENSIS classification (the most important assessment of Italian Universities) as well as by important international HEIs rankings, such as U-MULTIRANK, QS WUR, THE, CWUR, ARWU.
There’s no doubt that the covid-19 pandemic has heavily influenced people’s behaviour and choices, including those regarding student mobility and study abroad.
The University of Siena has made a great organizational effort to guarantee students and staff the best possible safety conditions while providing ample opportunity to take part in courses, study, research and work activities. We firmly believe that the University experience is complete only if it involves sharing spaces, opinions and emotions. We are equally certain that our students feel likewise, and we are committed to making this possible.
Nonetheless, during the pandemic emergency in addition to in-presence teaching, which continues to be the preferred method also in the next Academic Year, every single lesson will be simultaneously live-streamed and/or videorecorded and uploaded on our digital platform for subsequent viewing. This mode is essential for students who are temporarily unable to be on premises.
