University Master's Degree in Medical Anthropology and Global Health

The University Master's Degree in Medical Anthropology and Global Health will provide you with a solid foundation in theories, techniques and methodologies in medical anthropology so that by the time you complete the course you are ready to translate social problems into anthropological research questions and transform this research into practical policies that can help create social innovations and find new models for health intervention.

This master's degree is the continuation of the inter-university master's degree that ran until the 2019-20 academic year and it is unusual in Europe and Latin America because of its subject matter and because of the quality of its teaching staff and the research they carry out.

The course will be taught in Spanish (80%), Catalan (10%), English (10%)

Admission requirements

Aimed at students and professionals from the field of health (medical sciences, nursing, physiotherapy and social work), who work or are interested in international health organizations in the field of environment, social education or mediation and who want to receive training in the social sciences to give answer to a better and more efficient social intervention. It is also aimed at those who wish develop research in the socio-health field. Students with training in the field of social and cultural anthropology and other social science careers, such as sociology, who are interested in specialising in the field of health.

Scholarships & funding

The URV Master's Grants are aimed at exempting full-time students newly registered on a master's course from registration up to a maximum of 60 ECTS credits. For those master's degrees consisting of 90 and 120 ECTS credits, there is the possibility that students may receive the grant in the second year.

Several scholarship options are available. Please check the university website for more information.

Tuition fees

  • For students from member states of the European Union, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Andorra* or resident in Spain: €2,782 / full time-course.
  • Rest of students*: €4,442.

*Students who have obtained their degrees outside of Spain will be charged with €218.15 as a Tax of academic career that will apply in the first registration only (price for course 2021-22).
