Program description

University Master's Degree in Ageing and Health

The master's degree offers both professional specialisation and initiation into research. Therefore, the main goals are:

  • To train professionals working in fields related to aging, so that they are able to face the problems with a holistic and comprehensive vision.
  • Acquire and develop skills for the transfer of new academic knowledge in the areas of health care and public health in aging.
  • Acquire and develop skills to incorporate basic knowledge in aging.
  • Develop skills for the care work and/or research multidisciplinary character in aging.

The course will be taught in Spanish and Catalan.

Admission requirements

The Master's Degree is especially aimed at students in possession of a bachelor's degree in Health or a bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Medicine, Biology, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology and fields relating to the Health Sciences and who are particularly interested in the different disciplines and fields relating to the study of aging and the care of elderly people, or who are interested in carrying out research in this area.

Scholarships & funding

The URV Master's Grants are aimed at exempting full-time students newly registered on a master's course from registration up to a maximum of 60 ECTS credits. For those master's degrees consisting of 90 and 120 ECTS credits, there is the possibility that students may receive the grant in the second year.

Tuition fees

  • For students from member states of the European Union, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Andorra* or resident in Spain: €1,806 / full time-course.
  • Rest of students*: €2,913.

*Students who have obtained their degrees outside of Spain will be charged with €218.15 as a Tax of academic career that will apply in the first registration only (price for course 2021-22).

Career opportunities

Graduates in University master's degree in Ageing and Health are capable of working in health services in primary care, hospital care and social care (inpatient care units for convalescence, palliative care and psychogeriatrics; or outpatient day hospital rehabilitation and neurodegenerative disease units).

Residential centres, public bodies, social service businesses, adult and elderly education, telecare services, entertainment and leisure companies and rehabilitation centres through the practice of regulated professions.
