Anthropology and Human Evolution

Program description

Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Human Evolution

On this bachelor's degree you will acquire the fundamental theoretical and methodological knowledge relating to two complementary disciplines that focus on the exhaustive study of human beings: social and cultural anthropology and archaeology focused on human evolution. This course will help you to understand the complexity of human beings, cultural diversity and human archaeological heritage. It is the ideal course for you if you are interested in issues such as cultural diversity, archaeological heritage, cooperation, the adaptability of cultural forms and human evolution.

Why study Anthropology and Human Evolution at the URV?

The main strength of the degree is the combined offer of two disciplines with a solid theoretical and methodological base and, by extension, of the two mentions of the degree: that of Social and Cultural Anthropology and that of Human Evolution. This offer guarantees you to acquire both basic and specialized knowledge in both fields. In addition, we offer you a well-systematized and flexibly organized teaching-learning system for the student, which combines face-to-face teaching at the URV with the programming and development of the different subjects within the UOC's virtual campus.

This course is also taught in Catalan.

Admission requirements

Candidates should have good oral and written skills in Catalan or Spanish.

The ideal candidate will be interested in the study of human beings in its broadest sense and in different societies and cultures. This bachelor’s degree will be of particular interest to those who believe in the importance of thinking about the origin, evolution, behaviour and thought of human beings, of contemplating material and symbolic cultures in both ethnographic and archaeological terms and of attempting to understand problems related to processes of social change, cultural diversity and inequality.
