Program description

Master of Laws (LL.M)

The LL.M. degree requires the successful completion of at least 24 academic credits, including U.S. Legal Research and Writing and The U.S. Legal System. Other course selections should be made in consultation with your adviser.

Admission requirements

LLM for International Lawyers

Requirements include a first degree in law from outside the U.S., as well as TOEFL or IELTS exam scores (or a waiver). Applicants to the LLM/MBA must submit either GMAT or GRE scores.

In addition to either a first degree in law from outside the U.S. or being admitted to practice law outside the U.S., applicants to the LLM program must have excellent English language ability (as evidenced by a TOEFL or IELTS exam) and a strong record of academic or professional accomplishments. The preferred scores are as follows:

  • TOEFL: 100 (internet-based total); 250 (computer-based total); or 600 (paper-based total)
  • IELTS: 7

Tuition fees

For LLM students who wish to specialize in a specific area of law, we offer four certificates. These LLM Certificates offer students the opportunity to explore a concentrated topic during their time at Richmond Law. These certificates complement our other international offerings, including the LLM Degree and the LLM/MBA Dual-Degree.
