MA in Archaeology in South Africa

The MA Archaeology is a full-time postgraduate program run by the University of Pretoria. As the most diverse Faculty at the University, Humanities offers an exciting range of programs and discipline-based majors. The Humanities programs offer part-time and full-time options and allow students to specialize in a chosen field.

Admission requirements

A honours degree in Archaeology with a minimum of 60% average. Proficiency in English. An additional module, TTS 751 Academic writing skills if not proficient in English.

Qualification

MA Archaology

30 000 - 50 000 Word dissertation based on a research proposal approved by the Ethics Committee. Perform one outreach activity. Participate in the Department's Seminar Series. Construct a museum display of the dissertation research. Submit an article based on research to an accredited publication. Conduct at least 8 weeks of fieldwork and must demonstrate mastery over basig and intermediate field techniques.
