University of Notre Dame Australia

Notre Dame is a private Catholic University, extending from the West Coast of Australia in the beautiful and historic City of Fremantle, to the North-West town of Broome and across the continent to the heart of Sydney.

They embrace the ancient and esteemed traditions of Catholic Universities in Europe, North America and 2000 years of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. They welcome people of all faiths or none at all. As an academic community, they welcome open and rigorous enquiry, debate and discussion.

They have an enrolment of over 12,000 students and offer a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Their student experience, employment and graduate outcomes are the best in New South Wales and Western Australia, and among the very best in Australia.

They provide their students with the theoretical knowledge and professional skills which will empower them to realise their potential, build interconnectedness with all peoples and willingly serve the community through active participation, engagement and reflection.

They have a powerful commitment to honouring the individual and recognise that each student is graced with their own gifts and talents. They believe that higher education should prepare students for a rich, fulfilling and reflective life, not just a career path.

Campuses

Notre Dame is a leading Australian university which spreads coast-to-coast with campuses in Sydney, New South Wales on the east coast, to the north west town of Broome and the port city of Fremantle in Perth, Western Australia.

As an international student, you have the opportunity to study your degree across Australia with the option to study a semester or two at another sister campus.

Accommodation

There are a range of accomodation options available:

Rent a house or an apartment

Local real estate agencies or private owners advise The University of Notre Dame Australia of available properties for rent in the Sydney city district. Rental properties can be furnished, partly furnished or unfurnished. When considering renting a property, students should consider that landlords require rent to be paid in advance and the payment of a security bond equal to one month’s rent.

Rent a room

There are limited opportunities for this style of accommodation. Renting a room usually consists of a shared bathroom and communal areas of the house, with separate bedroom and study area. Expenses such as power, gas, telephone and excess water are normally paid in addition.

Share with other students

Many students choose to share a house or apartment with other students. They advertise on the student noticeboards or with the Student Services Office. This arrangement involves having your own bedroom with shared communal areas (kitchen, laundry, living room and bathroom) as well as responsibilities for house-keeping. Share housing can offer inexpensive accommodation, the opportunity to share expenses and build friendships and a social network.
