Public History & Cultural Heritage (Online) MA
The Public History and Cultural Heritage MA program provides a structured academic approach to the practice of history in a public setting through modern models of online learning. This program has been developed to include a combination of conceptual, methodological and practice-based modules, thus broadening the student’s intellectual and scholarly experience. The program offers a globally-recognised postgraduate qualification in a cutting-edge area of historical practice and provides opportunities to expand industry/academia partnerships. The online delivery of the program enables prospective students whether already working in public cultural institutions, or employed in other sectors of the economy, the opportunity to acquire a globally recognised postgraduate qualification. It will appeal to new graduates and history teachers seeking continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. As an online program it provides prospective students complete flexibility.
Who is this course for?
Anyone currently, or interested in, practising history in the public domain, especially in the cultural heritage sector.
The online delivery of the program enables prospective students whether already working in public cultural institutions, or employed in other sectors, the opportunity to acquire a globally recognised postgraduate qualification in a cutting-edge area of historical practice.
It will also appeal to new graduates and history teachers seeking continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. As a fully online program, it provides prospective students flexibility in learning; some modules are also available on campus (blended).
A primary degree (with first or second class honours) (Level 8 - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland) in a relevant or appropriate subject, or equivalent prior learning that is recognised by the University as meeting this requirement. Applicants must also satisfy the English Language Requirements of the University. The University reserves the right to shortlist and interview applicants as deemed necessary.
