About this program
Bachelor/Master of Engineering in Electronic and Computer Engineering
This new Electronic and Computer Engineering degree has been developed in conjunction with employers, to meet the demand for male and female graduates with strong skills in software and hardware engineering, along with mathematical analysis ability.
This course will give you the skills to employ and develop technologies to tackle many of the challenges of the coming decades including energy, climate change, health and well-being as well as other innovative areas such as entertainment and self-driving vehicles.
Graduates of this degree program will play key roles in the research, design, development, test and installation of future systems. They will frequently work in teams to tackle challenging problems. Many of the men and women who graduate from this degree also pursue higher degrees by research (MEng, PhD, etc), or through taught postgraduate programs (MSc, MEng, MBA, etc).
Admission requirements
Minimum grades
Applicants are required to hold at the time of enrolment the established Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with a minimum of six subjects which must include: Two H5 (Higher level) grades and Four O6 (Ordinary level) grades or four H7 (Higher Level) grades. Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English.
Subject requirements
In addition, applicants must hold a minimum grade H4 in Mathematics and a grade O6/H7 in any one of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Physics with Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Studies, Design & Communication Graphics/Technical Drawing, Technology, Biology, Agricultural Science, Applied Maths.
