The origins of the University of Jaén go back to the creation of the University of Baeza in the Modern Age, with a long journey until 1993, when it began its journey as an autonomous institution.Since then, the University of Jaén has been able to respond to the demands of the academic community, and of society as a whole.
The institution has made a decisive commitment to innovation and quality, both in the delivery of its degrees and in the advancement of its infrastructures, which translates into an increase in teaching and research activity.
The academic offer of the University of Jaén, designed according to the labor and professional needs of society, consists of more than 50 degrees, First and Second Cycle and 22 master's degrees, some of them taught online.In the Jaén and Linares campuses, study, dialogue and coexistence are encouraged, which is why students of the UJA live intensely the university stage, developing their daily activity in an ideal environment for relationships and interdisciplinary contact with others students and teachers.
The classes, of a high practical content, are formed by small groups, following the guidelines of the new European Space of Higher Education (EHEA).The research laboratories are equipped with the most modern material so that the students can develop their practical activities with the most advanced technology.
Faced with the requirements of the EHEA, the University of Jaén has incorporated new measures within the Teaching Innovation and Teacher Training Plan, such as the promotion of multilingualism, the creation of teaching materials using ICTs, a training plan for trainers, informative actions directed to counselors and professionals of Bachillerato and the call of mobility in teaching innovation, among others.
The human capital of the UJA is one of the most solid pillars of the institution.More than 1000 professionals are part of the teaching and research staff (PDI) and more than 400 are dedicated to administration and services, forming a united team that covers the needs of the 16,000 students enrolled in the various undergraduate and postgraduate courses that are taught at the University of Jaén.
