Environmental Management

Are you interested in environmental issues and their solutions? Choose the Associate Diploma in Environmental Management to build technical and practical skills needed for a career in conservation and resource management, water and wastewater treatment, with private, municipal, industrial, and/or agricultural employers. Students complete a variety of applied, practical projects and assignments to develop their industry knowledge.

Program Features

  • Gain a strong understanding of environmental protection and management
  • Work in a well-equipped current environmental laboratory
  • Complete your diploma with a 4-weeks industry internship
  • Students taking the Sewage and Waste Water course experience their lab components at the wastewater treatment facility in Ridgetown
  • Graduates often earn competitive wages
  • Become eligible to write:
    • the Ministry of Environment Operator in Training (OIT) Certifications/Licenses in water treatment, water distribution, waste water treatment, and waste water collection
    • the exam for Certified Technician designation through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)
    • entry level for Drinking Water Operators exam (with preparation during the semester 4 elective Entry-Level Drinking Water Operations course)
  • On-campus anaerobic digester demonstrations, labs and research facilities

Admission requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Equivalent
  • A minimum cumulative average of 65% in 6 Grade 11 or Grade 12 U, C, M, or O level courses (excludes Co-op credits)
  • Includes a minimum of Grade 11C Math and Grade 12C English
  • OR Mature Student Status*
