BSc Actuarial Science
Through developing expert abilities in mathematics and discovering how these can be applied to financial situations, you will improve your capacity to make successful financial decisions and understand how you can turn risk into opportunity.
Our BSc Finance and Mathematics course offers you modules in mathematics, accounting, economics and actuarial science. Our business-focused course equips you with the knowledge and skills that are in demand by employers, and in particular in financial markets or corporate careers that involve financial decision-making and problem-solving.
You gain a thorough grounding in both finance and mathematics, investigating topics including:
- Corporate finance
- Portfolio management
- Applying mathematical, statistical and probabilistic techniques
- Programming and computation in languages such as Matlab and R
- Micro- and macro-economics
Admission requirements
UK entry requirements
A-levels: BBB, including Mathematics or Further Mathematics.
Please note we are unable to accept A-level Use of Mathematics in place of A-level Mathematics
BTEC: DDD, only in conjunction with A-level Maths.
IB: 30 points or three Higher Level certificates with 555. Either must include Higher Level Mathematics grade 5.
We are also happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programs at both Higher and Standard Level. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard level, and the course applied for. English language requirements
English language requirements for applicants whose first language is not English: IELTS 6.0 overall. Different requirements apply for second year entry, and specified component grades are also required for applicants who require a Student visa to study in the UK.
