
Program description
The MA (Hons) Primary Education with Gaelic programme aims to support you to become a Gaelic-medium educator who will develop professional values of trust, respect, integrity and a commitment to the principles of social justice. Based in the Moray House School of Education, you will have the opportunity to develop a deep knowledge and understanding of learning, of children as individual learners, and of the pedagogies associated with the primary curriculum. Through extended and sustained professional practice in Gaelic-medium and English-medium primary schools, you will develop professional expertise, knowledge of the curriculum in action and a critical understanding of the complexities of school and community. Additionally, the MA (Hons) in Primary Education with Gaelic (fluent speakers) provides you with the opportunity to study courses in Celtic (School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures) and in psychology (School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences), exposing you to internationally-renowned expertise in these subject areas. Graduates of the programme are able to teach in Gaelic-medium or English-medium primary education.
