The University of Calgary offers a broad range of academic programs - nearly all of which are open to international students. At the undergraduate level, there are more than 100 different programs to choose from. Top professors, innovative teaching methods, interdisciplinary programs, undergraduate research opportunities, the latest technology and more draws students from around the world.
The U of C has four strategic academic priority areas, which each stem from combinations of several different departments and faculties. They are: Leading innovation in the fields of energy and environment; Understanding human behavior, institutions, and cultures; Creating technologies and managing information for the knowledge society; and Advancing health and wellness. Life at the University of Calgary is more than just academics. The Center for International Students offers a variety of social events throughout the year where you can meet and mingle with other international and Canadian students. With more than 150 student-run clubs, there are organizations of nearly every interest to get involved in.
For those interested in sports, the U of C has a long history of excellence in varsity athletics. The 22 intercollegiate teams, called the Dinos, compete in 12 different sports. For those students interested in sports on a recreational basis, there are a host of intramural and other club sports. But no matter what level of athlete you are, all students have full access to the world-class fitness facilities, including a swimming pool, Fitness & Lifestyle Center with a running track, and racquet courts.
