Master Program in Fashion Marketing and Management

Fashion and textiles is one the most complex and fascinating areas of both research and social life. It encompasses trends and the fashion cycle, the industry and the fashion system as well as the various tangible products of textile and fashion. The fashion- and clothing industry has also detrimental social and environmental impacts.

This education gives you the tools to manage marketing and consumer behaviour in textile and fashion processes. You gain fundamental knowledge in how to manage textile value chains with a special focus on sustainability. The courses during the first year represent the textile value chain from idea to design, via production and distribution, to market and handling of backflows.

During the second year, you proceed with textile management but this time specialise in marketing and communication. Here, the focus is on different perspectives on communication and how to get a sustainable message out to consumers.

The courses have a strong basis in current research in textile management with a focus on sustainability in the textile value chain, as well as research in adjoining subjects such as business administration and industrial economics at the University of Borås.

The Swedish School of Textiles

The Swedish School of Textiles is a place for creativity, knowledge, and innovation. We have courses spanning all textile areas, ranging from textile design and fashion, to production and value chains, to business and textile technology. We have a unique machine park where creativity and theory are combined with practical work.

The Swedish School of Textiles is the only university in Sweden with a specialisation in textiles and fashion that has rights to grant degrees at all levels, including a doctoral degree in artistic work. For those who already have an undergraduate education, you can further specialise through one of our educational programmes at the Master’s level, or develop your skills through one of our popular freestanding courses.

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (180 credits) within Business Administration or Industrial Economics, Textile Technology, Textile or Fashion Design, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English equivalent to:
    • IELTS (academic training), 6.5 (with no part of the test below 5.5) OR
    • TOEFL (Internet based): 90 (with a minimum of 20 on the written part) OR
    • TOEFL (paper based): 575 (with a minimum of 4.5 on the written part)
